miles per tank?
miles per tank?
i was just on edmund's looking at the specs on my 2001 mt civic and notice that the 2001 manuals should be getting 514 miles per tank on the highway, i have never hit this amount in mine, im lucky to get 400 per tank and the most i have ever gone is 450 since i brought the car brand new. Can anyone tell me why this is? I dont drive aggresive or kill the brakes. Can you guys tell me what you are getting on yours, also its an lx sedan.
I have an LX auto sedan and I get about 400 miles per tank.
514 miles per tank is all hiway, no stopping, on the flattest and straitest part of the earth, with an 80 pound driver, cruise control, no ac, no traffic and no wind. Thats 40 MPG witch is tough to get.
You are doing ok. Try shifting sooner, cut back on compression braking, checking your tire pressure and keeping up on scheduled maintaince. Synthetic oil helps mileage too. Plus I doubt you actually run the tank completely dry. The gas light comes on with about 2.5 gallons. In all practically you are doing fine.

Braking using your engine only, when you downshift the engine brakes. Just think of when you're rolling in 3rd gear and you downshift to 2nd gear and hit 5000 rpm. If you drop the clutch on that shift and don't touch the gas the car will slow down alot.
I get 700 miles per tank regularly, with a maximum of 810. My average, since owning the car, is 609. Click on the link in my signature to get details on my tank by tank mileage, if you would like that sort of detail.

300 in the city, and 400+ on the highway. The beauty of the engine is that they can deliver moderate performance when pushed hard, and great gas mileage when driven lightly, but then the problem lies in the fact that it is almost impossible not to drive the car hard.

350 mpg?
350mpt . I average like 330 mpt but I do a decent amount of city and when I'm on the highway I go up steep hills/bridges with wind.
Most ever... 525 miles on 1 tank. 90% highway 65mph 3 ppl in the car and some subs. ran it about 50 miles w/ the light on and was probably nearly empty at the end of it all. 04 EX manual

Yea, having your car in neutral is basically like idling it in your driveway just ur wheels are spinning really fast, so it does no harm to the engine nor ur axle/ all that other ****
