turbo to stock
turbo to stock
I have been noticing that a lot of the people from the sf turbo days are selling there turbos (us first generation of people to turbo the d17) and there are lots of new people that are boosted.
Im just wondering why so many of us parted out and do you think the same will happen to this new group of boosted 7thgens. did you get a new car? driving around stock? to much cash? tickets?
For me personally it was fun and I miss not hearing the pssss, but I sold it to put a down payment on a new car for my gf (2006 corolla) and in spring I plan on buying a 94+ tt supra, the civic was just going to cost way to much cash any ways to get into the 300 hp range like I wanted.
some times i still want to take some ricer off the line but then i remeber i have a stock car again

i was one of the first to boost my car, had it running alright for a couple of months, then the motor blew, swapped a new motor in it (d17a2) and decided i should go for looks instead of speed.
bad driving record + turbo car = bad. one more ticket, my license is suspensed INDEFINATELY.
thats my reason...

when i had my turbo in, i never got pulled over nor a ticket. now that im stock again, my car is freaggin loud and have gotten 3 speeding tickets in the last month with 2 tints and modified exhaust ticket to worry about. I plan on going turbo once again but not with this record, hopefully when I do go boosted again, I will be lucky enough not to get pulled over. having a stock car sucks also i was running around in california catless. california gots strict emmissions laws also and yet i never got caught with all the smoke coming out of my exhaust pipe.

well, i think we've come along way from the original SF kit and their alcohol injection, with the discovery of larger injectors working with the d17, getting the emanage working on the d17 and other factors like crower parts, theres a little more support for people who boost than there was back then. I think if this stuff was available to first gen sf kit buyers, alot more would still be around. Although alot of people sell their kits just because it's not enough, and either k20 or sell their cars for something better.

i am stock right now simply because im building a second motor and i sold my kit to pay for some of the parts.
I sold the turbo kit off my car and my wifes car, and i paid for most of the work for my block, a vtec head, ex tranny, and my 60-1 turbo (and raw materials to build my new kit)

ya i got no regrets, it was a great learning experiance heck if i had the cash i would do it all over and right this time not half assed and have a sweet daily driver but for me at least supra comes first
