went to dealership today
I went to the dealership today to check out the new civics because my friend is trading 04 two door accord k24 for 06 si. At first I was really hating the new look until I saw the mugen civics, but that was only a pic. When I first saw it I was upset, the car is plain ugly. There is no front end, later on that day I saw a prius and thought it was a new civic at first. The windshield is flat as well, which only makes things worse. I recomend everybody goto the dealer and check them out, cause the pics can be deceiving. The engine bay is rediculous, i am not sure there would be room for a turbo on the R18, the alternator is pushed in real close and its just packed in there. There may be a chance but it would be rediculous to install. As for the si, i cannot imagine a k20 in there.
The enterior was nice, the seats are made of a higher quality fabrice, but the dash and gauges are a little overdone. When I got back into my civic, it just felt better, those gauges and dash remind me too much of a corrolla or other companies that try to look really creative, but end up looking cheap. The door panels, 10 air bags, extra hp, seats, and fuel conservation are the only things that impressed me on the new civic. I cannot wait until I can see the si engine compartment.

Well, I bought one for my fiance because it's what we need. I don't mind the dash, actually kind of think it is convient once you get used to it, you can see how fast your going without taking your eyes off the road. Not sure if like the big tach in the middle though. As for the small engine bay, I don't really care, not modding the car at all, that's why I have a GSR
The car is target for the masses, not the modding community, the Si is for the modders in the world, not the R18 civics. Those might be a little more friendly.

The new 2 door seems to plop itself right next to the tC, IMO.
And the Si now is worth buying and modding like crazy.

even if an aftermarket part is attached to another part, which breaks, they legally have to prove its the aftermarket parts fault to not honor the warranty.
for ex:
shock blows and you have lowering springs - not covered
engine blows and you have I/H/E - god damn better be covered or they are screwing you

you may think that, after hearing it so many times. But look at the fine print in the product booklets they put together on the page with the modded cars. And then take a look at your actual warranty. I think you'll be surprised.

If you guys think Honda is bad, I know 3 people that have had blow Ford engines and where denied warrenty claims because they had the wrong oil in the engine and 1 person who did not use motorcraft oil (the manuals say you have to use motorcraft oil or a full synthetic oil). And they take samples of the engine oil and send it to their labs before they fix your car/truck.

i mean come on, the brand of oil causes the engine to die? Haha! Even the honda dealer doesn't know what they use. They tell me its "bulk" brand lol. Next they're gonna say the gas caused the fuel system to fail cause you didn't fill up at shell!

Yeah i was talking to my friend about oil, same guy who is trading in accord, who is also in his first month at automotive school. He was saying that except for sythetic, and the different wieghts, all oil is the same. It comes from the same factories and the only difference is the packaging.
Oh yeah he is getting his 06 si for 17gs!!!

Yeah, I got my 04 ex for 16,400 and he is getting 06 si for like 17,2-400. His brother knows a guy with some "connection", so the guy is getting one, my friends getting one, his brother, and brothers roomate, so they are getting four of them at one hell of a price. I think I may have left one our, oh well 4 is still rediculous. I do not htink he is BSn either cause the guy buys/sells, and wastes more money on cars then anybody I have ever heard of. One month he has a new 7 series, another week he has a new c6 vette with 22s or 21s, cannot remember, but I do remember he had to light the tires on fire to get them on the rim.

I Tell You Way I Think Honda Wants Their Costumer To Mod Their Cars.....it Is A Way Of Selling, If Their Costumers See The Mod Cars They Feel Like They Want To Buy It.

of course honda wants people MODDING!!! but I do feel they want the R18 to be annoying like the D17.
Look at it from their view... you want a faster one you have to buy the easily moddable K20 powered Si which is more money for them and more rep for the whole car when they are faster. imagine if everyone stuck with D17s in our cars and only turbo. we wouldnt have those crazy 500hp street legal K20 em's!
but it failed with this gen cause the si sucked.

Er.. I don't know how many turbos you have installed but theres a TON of room (more than the 7th gen). Just because it has a small hood does not mean it's a small engine bay, you just have to remove the cowl to get to the intake side and the strut towers if you need to.
A PRIUS?? Are you BLIND?
Have you gone to a dealer and looked under the hood?
The alternator is on the left side, and I think the powersteering is still in the same place, so there is not much room. I am going of my memory here, but I am pretty sure either the p/s or alternator is on the other side, I think its the alt though. A turbo could fit, cause it really depends on the manifold, but overall the engine bay is smaller, so it could be a serious pain.
From the side it looks like a prius, but it could be that I am blind, I have not been to the optomitrist in like two years.

The engine bay is not smaller, if you take the cowl off there is tons of room to work and even install a supercharger if you wanted to. Yep you are right the alternator is close in, but that is on the exhaust side, so if you are installing a turbo ... you don't really care about the alternator placement.
There's also a big plastic piece in front that may have you thinking it's smaller than it really is, but if you were able to look down you would see a decent amount of space for piping, and again, if you look at the picture you can see that the cowl is covering the strut towers. Since I have the car I can see the bolts that you would remove to take the cowl off and once you do that there is a ton of room back by the firewall.

Props on the new civic, did not realize you had one, and you were probably a little insulted, sorry man.
As for alternator placement, that does have a lot to do with turbos, that is why Dezod's does not come with a filter. I just do not understand your reasoning "but that is on the exhaust side", yeah right where the turbo will be. I did look down in the front at the dealer and there is room width wise but lengthwise its real short. The engine is packed in there, I am comparing it with my 7thgen right now. In the 7thgen the air-box is bigger, so when you remove it you have more space. That engine mount may also get in the way, but may not even need to run pipe over there anyway. The cowl may cover alot of space up, but the cowl itself takes up some space.

TO bad it's not reverse rotation like the K's, that would probably make things' easier, more room in the back.

The line about Ford and only being able to use Motorcraft is flat out false, even in the manual it says you can use other oils as long as the oil is rated the same. You can even bring the Ford dealer some Mobil 1 and they will use that on your oil change.
However, if you are stupid like a friend I know who poured in 2 stroke engine oil then yes, they can deny your claim.
