that's pretty cool... wonder if there's a k20z or k20z2 out there somewhere

Get out of the dark. Temple of VTEC has everything you want to know abou the Si, including some good powertrain info with regards to the naming scheme and such.

Its more like a euro R engine.
The balancer shaft of the si is heavier than the The Type S engine resulting in a few less HP on the Dyno (Inertia). Its advatange is however it revs up smoother than the K20Z1. The transmission gears 1 through 5 are the same as the type S, gear 6 is taller and the final drive is the same of the 2005 Type S.
So its an improvement over the k20a2 or k20z1.

ok simple question. if you're driving a stick and let's say you're on gear 5. do you have to put it in gear 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, before going to a full stop and brake? or can you just put the gear on neutral whatever gear you're in then clutch brake right away?

thanks man. i always thought about that because everytime i drive a stick (uncles truck) i just put it in neutral then break when i'm about to stop on the light. never did i do the slowing down the gears.

what do you mean? u mean the last downshift is at 2nd gear? does that also mean, never fully stop on gear 1? instead you put in neutral, fully stop, then gear 1 when about to go?

1st gear only meant for starting out, never downshift to first gear. As far as breaking i know I shift into neutral when coming to a stop, never ride the clutch. I guess downshifting fromt 5th,4th,3rd,2nd will work too.
