The solstice's targets were on the S2000

They said they wanted the handling characteristics of the S2000 but a tad less twitchy. However, at $20,000 and the 177hp mark, it's real competition is the miata. And it could definitely give the miata a run for its money.
Except DAYUM is this thing ugly with the top up.

No, you have to wait for the SRT-4/Cobalt engine to work its way into that car. Its already been said that a turbo version is up next, and that will for sure be putting out over 215hp and 200ft lbs of torque.
Im sure what they mean is that the platform is meant to compete with the S2K, and I think it will in terms of sales, aftermarket and auto-x wins. Give it about 3 years.

I saw/sat in a Solstice last weekend... while I was milling around the car, some other guy touched a trim piece on the front of the car and it fell to the ground. We shared a good laugh and sarcastically pondered aloud about why GM would need discounts to sell its cars. The Pontiac rep just kind of stood there and turned as red as the finish of the car. The S2000 completely outclasses this car, and the new MX-5 looks light years better than it. Pwnt.
Yea there’s no chance that some phucktard broke the trim off then set it back on there. I’m sure none of us has done anything similar to that either.
And you happen to think the interior of a 32K dollar car is better then that of 19,000 dollar one? Way to go sherlock.

Heh. I've had two Mustang GT owners in my car, and they mention how "cheap" and "fisher price" their interior feels compared to mine.
I spend way too much time on this website

Last time i checked most GMs and Fords are built in Canada and Mexico and D/C builds in Germany, Mexico and Agentina along with VW
and this so called 'sale' just tells most of us that car prices are so inflated because both companies are still making money off the cars.

But you see it IS a sports car, unlike the RSX, WRX, Civic, Celica, Eclipse and so on.

NAstage2, I confirmed the problem by investigating the trim piece on the opposite side of the car. It was just a poorly thought out/cheaply built part. As far as the Solstice's interior not being on par with that of the S2000, you've got me on the price point. However, I can think of lots of other cars around that price point that appear to have better interior build quality, the Mazda MX-5 comes to mind. It's 2 grand more, but less ugly and better built. I'll have to drive one (or two, I'll drive the Sky too), but I'm just not convinced of GM's ability to build a proper roadster.
