Question on motor work that I need answered.

I found a guy that would port and polish my head and intake manifold along with bore out my trottle body for a good price. Then him and one other guyy at his shop told me I would be wasting my time and money, because I wouldn't do much. I remember reading somewhere that if you port and polish your head and intake manifold, bore out your trottle body, and aftermarket cam gear it would boost you up to 170. Am I wrong? Or are they wrong?

I agree. Porting and polishing our cars, we would be lucky to get 12 hp out of. What the hell is boring out the throtle body going to do. You cant bore out something that thin anyways, you need to just buy a bigger one. Porting and polishing is basicly just smoothing out the intake and exaust runners for better air flow. Now, if you ported and polished and decked the head on the motor, thats where the power comes from because the piston has less space to travel for quicker burns of fuel and air.
