Question Hx

Alright if can get some ppl the reply back that would be awesome. First i have an 01 HX 5 speed, Love this car. and i'll admit it does have some rice like features but i bought it that way haha. Any way does the hx have anything different besides the motor is a lean burn. It seems ti me like my gears are HELLA long, 2nd gear goes to around 74 i think, but i must say for long gears and not my power the little hx holds its own.

wonderz is on a distinguished road
doesn't HX use a CVT tranny which technically have infinitely number of gears?
since your HX is an auto with the "special" tranny, how do u tell which one is 1st gear and which is 2nd?

You can get the HX in a 5MT or the CVT (for an extra $900) that is equivlant to an automatic, it comes both ways.

Check here, look at the bottom and it will give MPG for the 5MT and CVT tranny:

Well, lets start off at the engine. Youe engine is the same engine that is in the EX model, excpet it has a different A/F ratio and ignition timing map to make it burn a little leaner. To help with the life of the car (because lean burn makes the engine very hot) it has a couple things like like a cooller thermostat and couple little odds and ends, but overall it's an EX engine.

Moving to the tranny, you are absolutly right that the gears are super long. That is one reason it achives such a high MPG, infact the HX has it own special tranny. It has an EXTREMELY tall final gear so that the engine can stay at lower revs while cruising.
