Civics moving up into a new class?
Civics moving up into a new class?
Thats what Honda said back in 2000 regarding the Civic going from the 6th to the 7th gen: link
Also they stated that the price increase wasnt major.
And Honda is saying that again for the 8th gen.
So what does this mean for the 8th gen?
Will moving up in class cuase a significant price jump or will it be like the 7th gen and have less than $300 difference from the 6th gen? I see the problem being is that Honda doesnt tell you what the term "class" means. I dont think Toyota needed to move the Corolla into another class to allow Scions to be sold.
Also I wonder, is the Civic moving up into another class? or had the market allowed a new class or breed of cars to join? or is Honda just messing around with us with their high price marketing ppl? hahahaha

just my .02 but i think honda will actually increase the price of the civic but not by much. this will allow the new honda (which will be competitor to scion) to compete with scion' pricing without going too low.
dont know if that makes sense.

moving up class means moving up price wise, that's about it. same "class" still which is compact sedan. they have to offer more features and whatnot and bump the price up because they are putting the jazz/fit/city under the civic as the new entry level car. if they don't bump up the civic a little, then the pricing of the jazz/fit/city would be too low since it would be under the civic. i mean it's a chain reaction. you mean to say they "bump" the civic in it's class so it's the new accord so to speak? nah, i don't think so. if you move the civic up in it's class then it would technically be competing with the new camry now and the accord should be bumped up too. not unless they get rid of the accord to make way for the new "moved up class" civic. which is highly unlikely because accord/civic are their bread and butter. hence the accord would also be needed to be moved up if that's the case, then it would compete technically with the new avalon. i honestly think we need a full size HONDA sedan to compete with the TOYOTA avalon though. RL don't count because that's for the GS.
