free oil change

well, since i dont have my license for a while, my pops has been drivin my vic and he racked up a few miles on it and its time for a oil change. the thing is, its one of those coupons from the honda dealership. he says hes gonna take it there tomorrow and just told me. the only thing im worried about is that they will walk straight up to my dad and tell him that it voided the warrenty. hes already pissed as fvck that i modded my car so.... if he finds out i got no warrenty... im screwed....so i was wondering, will the people who change my oil say anything about it or not? btw, my mods are only injen cai (sri for now) and greddy evo II exhaust.

note: i searched for it and i looked through previous posts. its i juss havent found any situation like this in any of those threads.

magnusson-moss warranty act. no, they cannot void your entire factory warranty because of your mods. they could only void whatever failure could have been caused by your aftermarket parts.

UNLESS you have a hondacare warranty. then you're f'ed.

nope. if you bought and paid for a warranty, it's not actually a warranty. it's an "extended service contract". and if i were you, i'd get your money back ASAP because the hondacare warranty is almost completely useless.

the factory warranty and the honda certified used car extended warranty (which you do NOT have to pay for, it comes with all certified cars) is covered by magnusson moss.

if you paid for an extended warranty, or hondacare warranty, it's the quickest way to **** away your money.

so is there any way to get your money back for an extended warranty that you bought?

When I bought my car they offered me an extra 3 years/30k for $1000. At the time it sounded like a good idea... Is there any way I could get this back or is my money pretty much gone?

just got brand new ac compressor/clutch and door lock motors (~$1300) for free under the hondacare warrenty (B70) and before this I've got plenty of stuff done by them for free under the warrenty theyve never said anything about my intake headers or exhaust, or the fact that its lowered. they even told me i wouldnt pass smog with my downpipe and i told them i was looking for my stock one to put back on...they didn't say anything else.

you simply cancel the warranty. you should get a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the warranty.

i have no idea what the hendricks warranty is. so i can't comment on whether or not it is useful.

you are one of a VERY rare case. you must have a decent hondacare service adjustor where you live. particularly because it says right in the hondacare service contract that if the car is modded in ANY way, or any abuse is suspected, warranty work will be denied.

for example. my friend's S2000 had his 2nd gear go in his tranny. the hondacare guy showed up to approve/deny the warranty claim. he saw my friend's carbon fiber hood and denied the claim on the spot. the guy barely got within 50 feet of my friend's car. this is how most hondacare warranty claims usually go.

Na.. They usually will only void areas that you have changed (ie. Exhuast). Plus, bolt-ons normally will not affect the engine in any serious manner, so I would not sweat it to much.

actually it has nothing to do with the dealership. each region has it's own hondacare warranty claim team. it's totally up to them. the dealership has no say.

oh ok. that is probably why the service guy said he would call their hondacare team - but not to worry (about the whole a/c thing) cuz they're usually really cool

Hmm, I got a new transmission and new struts on my car covered under the Hondacare warranty.. I'm not sure how much all that would cost with labor but I know it wouldn't be cheap. I don't really have too many modifications however I do have lower sway bars, upper strut bars, wheels, etc.. all the minor things and the hondacare adjustor didn't say anything about them.

Strait From Honda Tech : " Adding Aftermarket parts does not void the warrenty on any honda" BUT. If it is found, that the Aftermarket part Caused the Damage. Then The warrenty would be void..

Example. I have I/H/E and VafcII... my Car was 300 miles before warrente was up when i miss shifted and dropped the Gears From 5 to 2nd doing 80 .. we'll as you can expect. BOOM no more engine....i had the car towed to the dealer.. left it in the "over night drop" and they checked the Car....we'll They tryed to blame in on all sorts of stuff like. the funnyest one for example....."you might of add'd desiel fuel to the engine" wich i kindly replyed "impossible and you know it. desiel fuel nozzels wont even fit into normal octane gasoline tanks, and were i fuel up doesnt even have a desiel option." needless to say....They had to fix the engine for free because the syncros didnt stop the shift linkage from going into 2nd. and just like that.......New engine........other wize it would of cost me $2,500 for the fix.........THANKS HONDA!!!!!!!!!

uh thanks we covered that already. and honda-tech is not the "legal governing body" regarding warranties. lol. as i already said in my FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD. It's called the magnusson moss warranty act. and it does NOT pertain to extended service contracts such as the hondacare warranty. Do people even read a thread before posting? i'm amazed you even posted this "info" from honda tech considering you can find info about the warranty act all over this forum.

Example. I have I/H/E and VafcII... my Car was 300 miles before warrente was up when i miss shifted and dropped the Gears From 5 to 2nd doing 80 .. we'll as you can expect. BOOM no more engine....i had the car towed to the dealer.. left it in the "over night drop" and they checked the Car....we'll They tryed to blame in on all sorts of stuff like. the funnyest one for example....."you might of add'd desiel fuel to the engine" wich i kindly replyed "impossible and you know it. desiel fuel nozzels wont even fit into normal octane gasoline tanks, and were i fuel up doesnt even have a desiel option." needless to say....They had to fix the engine for free because the syncros didnt stop the shift linkage from going into 2nd. and just like that.......New engine........other wize it would of cost me $2,500 for the fix.........THANKS HONDA!!!!!!!!!
ok.... the dealership had NO IDEA you missed a shift and put the car into 2nd gear at 80mph. which is kind of surprising. they didn't even HAVE to try and mention anything about diesel or other such crap. they could have easily denied the warranty based solely on the fact that you put it into 2nd gear going 80mph. in other words, deny the claim due to mechanical overrev.

The factory warranty DOES NOT COVER mechanical overrev. this is treated as misuse or abuse, and IS NOT COVERED. you, my friend, were lucky. the tranny does not have a 2nd gear "block" to stop you from being a moron and putting it into 2nd when you are well beyond the redline of 2nd gear.

however, your luck only goes so far. you had a dealership fix your car that is obviouisly quite clueless, considering damage from a mechanical overrev is very easy to prove/find. so while you got lucky that they covered it under warranty, the people who fixed your car are probably as competent as your average burger king janitor, considering they couldn't even tell it was damaged from a mechanical overrev.
