"There is a range of three different engines to choose from: a 1.4-litre 61kW/83 PS petrol unit, a 1.8-litre 103kW/140 PS petrol unit or a 2.2-litre 103kW/140 PS diesel unit. All of them are combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox making the new Honda Civic the first car in the C-segment to be equipped with 6-speed gearboxes across all of its range. The petrol units can also be equipped with a 6-speed automated manual transmission. Both 1.8 petrol and 2.2 diesel will be assembled at the UK (Swindon plant), while the 1.4 engine is built in Japan (at the Suzuka plant)."
looks like even the 1.8L's are gonna 6 speed ...
edit: I just noticed ... dual exhaust?

those headlight and taillight strips look like crap. Interior tho is VERY nice. Just like that inside guy was telling us a long time ago about how its dual layered with instruments in different positions.
wow, that is ugly.
did they incorporate the headlights into the grill liek those old *** ford tauruses had? I cant really tell from the pics too well.
eitehr way that is ugly, hopefully the ones we get looking nothing like it.

blah.
Honda really needs to get with it and start turbo charging cars and/or making them all RWD. Its going to get stale and fall off the import map in a few years if this keeps up.

"A torsion bar is a solid bar of steel which is connected to the car chassis at one end, and free to move at the other end. They are almost always mounted across the car, one for each side of the suspension. The springing motion is provided by the metal bar's resistance to twisting. To over-simplify, stick your arm out straight and get someone to twist your wrist. Presuming that your mate doesn't snap your wrist, at a certain point, resistance in your arm (and pain) will cause you to twist your wrist back the other way. That is the principle of a torsion bar.
Torsion bars typically have splines on one end so that they can be removed, twisted round one spline and re-inserted. This can be used to raise or lower a car, or to compensate for the natural 'sag' of a suspension system over time."

thats what they don't understand. I think every other company has some sort of cheaper performance car. Its just getting old now seeing the same over and over. What's next, a 1.9L civic in 2012?

that car isn't coming to the US so don't worry about what it has.
The US model 06 civic will have indepent rear suspension much like the current gen and will have a 200hp SI model.
People really need to stop confusing the Europe ONLY model with a US/NA car.

Its sorta common sense though. Honda already has a sporty 2dr car that has 200hp. Its called the RSX. Why would Honda put 200hp in civic?? its cool to think about it, but its most likely not going to happen. Civic's were designed to be cheap, realible, and good quality cars. If they slap a 200hp motor in their, do you think its going to be cheap?? Plus they'll probably lose sales from the RSX if they did do that. Who would bother buying an RSX, when you can get a civic for cheaper, and probably goes faster if this all actually happened.

I've heard a bit of interesting info ... this applies to all cars, not just hondas. This also applies only to CALIFORNIA.
There is a new law stating that all base horsepower figures have to be SAE standard ... which is why the 2006 RSX Type S's are going to be "201" hp, rather than the same 210 hp.
What this means is that the base hp number that the dealer will give you will be less than what you expect ... however, it does not change the horsepower out to the wheels. From what I've heard, SAE standard is actually a closer hp number to the wheels than before.
discuss.

i doubt the inter gauge cluster, radio, dash, etc are gonna look like that on the final car. why would honda put such a fancy "futuristic" interior on their entry level car? not to mention all the other car companies would have to compete and change their entry level interiors.

How come these stats are not on the Honda website?? hhmm... nothing is confirmed yet. If you can show me a stat on the Honda website within' the next hour or so I'll believe you.
btw, this is not a civic vs. rsx thread. I was clearing stating the 200hp motor from a marketing point of view. What would be the purpose of have 2 sporty type of cars that have 200 hp?? In my view is not good marketing. This is just my opinion. I say its just my opinion, cause you seem like you have facts.
There are no facts quite yet. I could be wrong, but, I was just stating what I thought.
So if someone starts a rumor that next civic is going to fly, and its post on every car forum, would you believe that?? probably not eh?? then why believe everything you hear. Just cause someone posted it??
oh, btw I do live in a dugeon.
