Ok well Im in another forum and its a Mustang forum and their saying that a EVO and a Cobra is a drivers race....and their talking about a 99 Cobra Im saying the EVO would take the Cobra no problem (and Im talking about a 03-04) so that means the 99 Cobra has no chance in hell if a 03-04 cant beat it....help me out...post your opinions and facts so I can show them...Your import gurus so help me out

the EVO can run 13 flat. some even had some 12.9's. one of my close friends is a moderator on an EVO forum. they can look for themselves if they don't believe it.

the 99 cobra can do about a 13.5 stock at best. 13.5 vs 13.0 is an *** whupping. that's like 6 car lengths.

from a roll the 99 cobra will win. from a stop, the EVO would bury the cobra. this is given equal drivers.

stock for stock...a 99 Cobra is about a dead even race for an 03/04 EVO. I've done roll races with a modded EVO when I was stock and he pulled me by about 3 or 4 cars to 135 mph. A stock 99 Cobra could have held the difference...extra 20 hp or so from the factory. There are some very fast EVO 8's out there. There is an imported EVO 7 that runs locally that I have seen run 7.4x's in the 8th. However, a stock EVO is not near a match for an 03/04 Cobra. The dyno anywhere between 365 to 385 rwhp bone stock. A great driver can run a bone stock 03/04 Cobra for low 12's. Even from a dig...the EVO should pull an 03/04 off the line, but. the Cobra would reel it in like a fish. From a roll...youre talking about 5-6 car lengths minimum from a 70-140 rolling race. The EVO's are quick out of the hole, but, unless you get head work done to them...they run out of breath about 120 or so. An 03/04 Cobra will pull unmercilessly to 170 mph.

Wow, an 03/04 cobra runs low 12's bone stock??? I'd love to buy that cobra. The single fastest ever pass by a STOCK 03/04 cobra was done by Paul Svincki, with a time of 12.67. I agree with you though ,that the Cobra would beat the Evo on a drag strip. But i have also seen 03/04 cobra's run low 13's with crappy drivers. I think this is a drivers race, but i also think if you had the same guy jump in each car and run them 5 times, the best times would more than likely come out of the cobra. Now an 99/01 cobra would get killed by an evo 8. Just my .02.

Depends on the car and the driver but I would say the Evo would take the cobra easy from a stand still. From a rolling run the cobra dosen't have to fight it's weight as much and the extra power they produce will slap an Evo. It's the same with my caddy from a light anything can beat it being 6500lbs its understandable but rolling watch your bum mustang boy I hope you like dust. But then again it's all the driver and there style the cars are very closely matched with hp to weight it's damm near evan but hey is the cobra driver a newbie or is he a pro or is he a pro going aganist a newbie? Close tie's just depends on who drive's.

my buddy with an 03 cobra does a 1.6 60' thats insane for a rwd car thats pretty much stock. he put like 1200 into it and hes running 12.0 flats.
and with a good driver in a stock 03 it can run high high 12's and 13 flats easy.

man it amazes me how much a lot of you guys pay attention to the questions. the other forum guys are stating that a 99 cobra will beat a evo8. the 99 cobra was not a s/c motor and usually run a 13.5 best time ever. even the 03/04 with a evo 8 is a drivers race. car and driver did a article when the new cobra was released and even those guys couldnt get it down the track faster that a 13 flat which matched the evo8 exactly. they even said it thelselves that both cars are equal power plants for performance. now from a roll the 03/04 cpbra will win with out a doubt because it does not have to take traction into consideration. but a 99 cobra will get smacked by a evo8 with equal drivers all day long

AWD isn't everything from a dig. If a RWD car has slicks or drag radials they can outlaunch an AWD car. I have seen lightly modded 04 cobras lift the front tires off of the ground they launched to hard.

my friend with a fully built foxbody runs 12 flats with slicks and he drives around with those on whenever he drives it (if not he throws on his drag radials)
and my other friend with the 03 cobra that launches a 1.6 60' uses drag radials all day and night on his daily driver.
my brother drove around all day and night on drag radials on his ITR when he had it.

Yes the 99 would get beat. To whoever was talkin about car and driver, i would love to meet these guys. These guys are supposed to be professional drivers and can't even put an 03/04 cobra in the 12's. I've seen it time and time again. maybe they are just used to import trannys/clutches??
