2K2 Civic EX 5Spd 2dr vs 2K1 Tiburon

Who would win in a quarter mile? The Civic is stock EX 5 Spd and the Tib just has a $100 exhaust and its automatic. My boy wants me race me thats why Im asking. Peace

Have you ever been in a Tiberon before? What a joke. The "140hp" must come from testing two cars at once. There is a guy at my office with one and it is a dog. I have an EX auto and i kicked his *** all over the interstate. He has an Elantra as well....kicked his *** in that too!!!

Don't underestimate the koreans, tiburons are becoming highly modded cars despite warped looks and seemingly slow engine.. you might find one with a turbocharger or a bottle and it'll kick your ***

sorry for the empty posting...

btw, I agree with some of you here, dun underestimate the triburon.....

I wanted to buy the new 2.7 V6 Triburon/tuscani....it is damn fast ....and has got auto/ shiftronic

If u wanna race , I suggest short distance and straight road, and Rev your first and second gear to redline or above.... u will win...
cos yr competitor is automatic..pick-up speed should be lower than yours....but in the long run...who knows.....

hmmm...140 HP tiburons are suprisingly quick. AND, will beat you. If your an auto, and hes a 5 speed, he'll wipe your *** all over the road. If it's an auto, and your an auto, it'll be a close race. I had a 5 speed 99 EX, FULLY modded (I/H/E/62mmthrottlebody, etc...) and I would put buslengths on an auto civic EX with similar mods. I did, however race a STOCK tiburon 5 speed on the expressway, and *embarassed* it OWNED me. WIth all my mods.

Just be careful, they are cheap, low quality cars, but are light, and with a 5 speed, suprisingly quick!

Yeah but if u read above i have a 5spd and he's automatic the only thing he has is a $100 exhaust, and i compared the weight in edmunds.com and my car is lighter by 111 lbs ... peace

yeah, I missed that...you have a 5 speed, and will beat his auto. If he had a 5 speed it'd be a completley differnt story...
as for racing tips?
your EX has a bit more torque than my 99 EX did, but, I used to rev it up to about 3500-4000 and drop the clutch. Dont powershift, no need to. I used to shift my EX RIGHT before fuel cut (7200, although the tach isnt completley accurate) into 2nd, and about 6900-7000 into 3rd. I had alot of mods, so mine pulled a little more up top...

in an si, perhaps, but..i dont have that car anymore..so if you really want to benchrace, while your winding your car out to 8200rpm, I'll be far ahead of you, shifting to the sweet sound of my blow off valve..
