3rd gear grinding

okay, so today all of a sudden i came to a stop light and when it turned green i started to acclerate and after shifting into second gear and acclerating more, i shifted into third and heard a loud crunching grinding noise, and at first i though it was the music or something, so when i turned off the main road i turned my music off and it did it again, it sounds disgusting, what is wrong with my car? is it transmission, clutch, synchronizer, or what?
thanks

Did it happen any more after that one time? What RPMS did you shift at? If it only happened once I'd say you missed a gear or misshifted.

My bet its your synchros but its awfully weird they would just fail out of the blue especially at low RPMS like you said. I hope your car is under warranty because tranny work is usually expensive.

my uncle told me that i should try to get performance tranny fluid for manual transmission, and see how well that works, and if it still grinds when the fluid heats up, then take it to a shop, by the way, whats a MTF?

Check the technical service bulletins. Not sure if there is a 3rd gear synchro one but I know there is a 2nd and 5th gear synchro defect. How many miles are on your car and what was your original warranty. I had my transmission rebuilt with a lot of mods done to my car and my local track's winner stickers inside my hood. They told me before they did work when they open my transmission, if its worn or chunked gear teeth, its my fault from racing, but if its messed up synchros, its hondas problem. Ends up it was bad synchros for 2nd, 3rd and 5th gear and they fixed it for free even though I was a few hundred miles past my warranty.

It'll grind every once and a while if you let the clutch out faster than you put it into gear. Do that too much and syncro are gone.

this only happens b/tw 2nd and 3rd gear though, i have to shift below 3000 RPM so it doesnt grind, so im shifting at like 25 mph into 3rd, it sucks, acceleration is extremely slow right now, pisses me off, im gonna try high performance manual tranny fluid additive and if it doesnt work i need to sheel out some cash for a new synchronizer, how much will instalation for that be? the part is only like $30-$40, but installation is gonna kill me
