Car & Driver's July article on the 07 GT500
This article is full of info and pics of the new GT500. Outstanding quick read.

They got their hands on a near production model and put it through some tests, although nothing harsh as it was raining at the time. Needless to say they were very impressed. This car keeps getting better and better every time I read about it. And the final product won't even be done 'til early 06. C&D said that they will gets their hands on a final version sometime in Jan 06.
Some quick numbers for you: (NOTE: These are all C&D estimates)
Price: $39,000
When: June 06
HP: 475 (they think it might even be higher)
TQ: 450
0-60: 4.0secs
1/4 mile: 12.5@116mph
Top speed: 160mph (gov limited)
They said that it is very compareable to the new 06 Vette (and we all know how awesome that car is) but for about $15,000 cheaper. I don't think I'm taking a big chance when I say that the 07 GT500 will be the best production Stang ever. A few mods away from 700rwhp. Gimmie!

Damn, 39K and a 4second 0-60, lets just hope that the production model looks something like that spec.-wise and Ford doesn't have to re-release incorrect HP figures like it had to do a while ago on the prev. Cobra.

^^ I think he was refering to a while back when Ford had to re-release the correct HP rating on the Mustang because it gave one that was over the reall HP.

I am not a fan of the new body style. But that is very coo. It reminds me of the diff between 302's and windsor's. I have been waiting to see when ford finally put superchargers on the 5.4. Also just to note exhaust, chip and a pulley change is good(on a 4.6) for 427 whp so just imagine what people are going to get out of this!

in straight line performance only.....I'd still take a C6 over the GT500 (even though it WILL be a great value, I wouldn't compare it to a vette b/c the 0-60 is the same, I also wouldn't compare a modded 04 Cobra to an Enzo if it had 600HP)

they said in the low 4 sec range. Thats a big differnce of claiming the car can do 0-60 in 4 secs flat
so dont say its a 4.0 sec car when its not going to be
Its a nice looking car, I wish they kept the fogs like on the GT though, it just looks better that way

"But with the fatter Goodyears managing power delivered by a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip rear end, O'Connell is confident the GT500 will sprint to 60 mph in "less than 4.5 seconds,"
"O'Connell predicts 0-to-60-mph times in the low-four-second range. "
"We expect that when we put the spurs to a test car early next year, a 0-to-60 number will come up in four seconds flat"
Just quoting what the article says, its hard to say how much it'll put out. But, w. a supercharger already included, its just a matter of a pulley swap before things get a lot quicker
