You should grab one up, they are fun as all he!! to drive, 160hp and a nice shift to them, much quicker than the civic is, I traded in my civic for the mazda3, I'm not regretting it one bit.

iTs pointless to argue with this majinB guy. He believes in his heart japanese cars are the greatest thing on earth. He just doesnt want to admitt that all companies struggle and have difficulties with stuff.
I like to see his argument of mitsubishi being more japanese lol.
Any person can see that Mazda is so geared to japanese market its cars often dont apeal to the US buyer market. Mazda is getting help from ford to become "more" American. Ford is getting help from mazda to lower costs etc...
So maybe this will straighten things out,
an example of what I explained is how mazda transmissions are becoming more smooth while shifting, americans want smoothness, the japanese market wants max power.
Anyways this "Honda" fan boy will never change his mind. He rather own an s2000 over a Aston martin because ford owns a share of Aston martin.
sheash..
I may be strongly bias to GM because I have grown up with corvettes and they prove themselves well. I indeed love GM products but I also hate some **** come out with... True motor enthusiasts just dont buy one brand and claim it better than anything on earth when it is not
Hell I own a honda civic!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about majinb. He's a japanese fanboy. Hell look at his name, it's straight out of Dragon Ball Z. BTW Ford doesn't make Corvettes. Your post sounds a little funny here:

Hey MajinB...look here:

watch the rx-8 born history. Look at all the designers and engineers. They all look like Japanese guys to me.

I've owned a Mazda3 since December with no incident at all. Like it better than my Civic even, which had rattles innumerable and annoying. Not that I didn't love that car, barring the rattles and a loose seat it was a great car. The Ford/Mazda thing has been covered ad nauseum.
As far as Japanese cars are concerned. My Civic was made here in Canada, whereas my Mazda was made in Japan.

They are owned by gm, yes a 20% share, but still owned as in have shares in the company and have input in how the company is run. So my statement isn't incorrect and you missing the point of my example.
The point of my suburu example was to show a japanese company that is partially owned by an American company and still make cars everyone wants. GM owns shares in suburu but half the people on the site want STI's.
Same reasoning can be applied to mazda. Ford only owned 33% of mazda, but people like majin think there crap because Ford owns shares in them. Even though he probably likes STI's when GM owns 20% of them.
Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

Ford supplies some of the cash, while for the most part, Mazda makes their own stuff. I know the 3's chasis was originally a Ford in Europe and a Volvo before it became a 3, while the 6 is all original. Ford will use that chasis on a bunch of domestic products. The only Ford products that I know that Mazda uses are the V6 engine, and the rebadged trucks.
Every company could use a little help here and there. Its what keeps the entire industry's standards up.
For the original post, it sounds like the dealership was just being mean.

Just to shed a little more light on the subject...
1) I would say that in my experience, japanese made cars are more reliable on average. I owned a mustang once, and my mother owns a new tahoe. I had problems with the mustang quite a bit, especially with the fuel pump (had to be replaced twice in a year and a half). The dealership was always sort drag-*** for me, but they eventually got things fixed. The tahoe runs fine, but it's also new.
2) While I stand by my first comment, I can't say that each japanese made car is trouble free. My last vehicle was a new 2002 Tundra. This truck is supposed to be one of the most reliable trucks on the market. Within 2 years, it developed a habit of just dying while cruising. Basically, the engine would just cut off for no reason at all. I'd have to let it cool down before it would start up again. I took it to the dealership, and they said everything was fine. Well, eventually, it flat broke down. I had to call a friend to come and pick me up.
3) Dealerships are different. When I finally got the truck to toyota, they took it in all day long, called me at 6 and said they 'thought' it was a sensor that was broken, but they really didn't know...so they replaced the fuel pump under warranty, but labor was $90. I'm no mechanic, but if I had all day to look at a truck with the computer hooked up to it, I'd be able to give someone better than 'we don't know...' I picked up the keys and drove to the local honda dealer and bought a new civic then and there.
The civic has not had any problems yet, other than a few minor annoyances. But the local dealership has a great reputation, and I won't be worried if something goes wrong, because I know they'll make things right.
Bottom line of this post: It seems almost impossible to produce a completely problem-free car. Every car company will put out a few lemons. The minds of factory workers for each company will inevitably wander while they practice their nostril 'pick-and-roll' technique, and they'll forget something. Sometimes, you're the one who gets the crappy car.
As for the car in the linked post: Mazda is not to blame, nor is Ford (and seriously, Majinn, Ford and Mazda are not the same; not all the time). If a dealership won't honor the warranty, then the dealership is the problem. All you can do is exactly what the owner is doing.

wow, i forgot about this thread. hey im not saying they are the same. im saying that ford has influence on the mazda cars, besides the rx8. and i just choose to not partronize ford and its affiliates. and now that i have read all these other posts after mine i have some stuff to say. first i do like japanese cars. duh. second, i like GM out of the domestics. my first ride was a 89 buick park ave. with the 3800 motor. and i know that ALL companies have had problems with there cars. honda was a dying breed back in the 70's till the oil "crisis". then they got big. im not claiming anything is better than anything else. cause if there was something better than all it would own and everything else would go out of business. ashton martins are not my style of car btw. but ill put it to you this way, im not biased, i just choose not to deal with fords and its other companies. and yeah my name is from DBZ, what does that have to do with anything?
