OEM Grille replacement...

Ordered one of those Black plastic grilles from Ebay.

2001 Civic EX - replaces the OEM Honda grille insert.
No more "H" on the front of the car!

How difficult is it to switch out? Do I use the clips from the OEM grille?
Any other helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Won't do the install until next weekend. But it should be fun...
I looked around the radiator and it appears that the black plastic shroud is the first step in removing the grille.

Thanks for any help here.

Bliv.

Thanks for all the info... I just figured out the search function here... what a wealth of information!!! I have found all the DIY's that everyone so fondly speaks of... I love this site. I'll have no problems tearing the front end off the car this weekend. Thanks again everyone!!!

You have to take off the bumper to get the grill off. There is a DIY for bumper removal. I think its all held on by screws if I remember correctly.

screws int he fenders, then the rest is just black clip things to get the bumper off. then once you get the bumper off, the grill is help in at the bottom by some more black clip thingys. it should take you like 30 minutes if its your first time doing it.

to take off the bumper there's 4 clips on top of the grill, there 2 screws at the side (one behind each fender) and then 4 more clips + 2 screws underneath the bumper

It's easy taking it off! but some members only took the top clips and the 2 sidescrews off and pulled the bumper forward.

The bottom of the grill is attached by clips to the bumper *on the inside* which is why taking the whole bumper off would be easier have fun!

exactly. but if you have nimble hands you can manage to just take the top 4 push screws out and pull the bumper cover enough to manuver the grill out without removing it. thats iffy though, and you can break just about everything attached to and including the bumper cover trying this.
