installing a sunroof

i really want to get a sunroof put in my LX, but a friend of mine who knows a lot about cars and has worked at jiffy lube as well as in the shops of 3 different car dealerships- he says i shouldn't do it, that it would leak...even if i get it done professionally (obviously), and that they hate installing them in auto shops but they do it anyway cause a customer wants what a customer wants. is this true though, would it really leak???
depending on how many people write back saying yes, it would leak, i'm still considering it for the spring. how much can i count on paying for one installed? i was just planning on a manual one that pops up and slides back.

I think there was one member on here a long time ago that had this done, but I can't find the thread anywhere. He seemed happy with it though. I believe it was around $1500.

Wasn't a sunroof optional at the Honda dealer for LX? Also why didn't you just get an EX? Just wondering, I'm not trying to be rude or anything.

what is a sunroof for anyway I have an EX and I never use it I never leave it open I don't want dirt coming into my car anyway. And make my Beige interior with black spot. Well I think I won't be using my sunroof now not yet maybe when my car about 5 years old.

Anyway yeah theres a chance that it would leak and do you really want to put your car under a knife. Are you considering it would hurt your paint it may even started a corrosion if not painted right

Ask Blah. He's done it to his LX. I believe he had the one from the EX put on. Looks exactly like an EX now. Probably has the power and everything too.

I second the leaking thing. My freind did install in his 93 Civic dx HB and after about 2 years later which the warranty ran out it started leaking.
He was very upset. I think that the rubber arround it dry up or something, so he brought this cream and put it on the rubber, It helps a little.
So its better to get it from the factory like the EX.

yes a sunroof is always optional from a car dealership, but i didn't get it when i bought my car and i didn't get an EX cause my parents gave me a price limit. it was hard enough talking them into letting me get a brand new car...they were even wondering why i had to have the LX and why i couldn't just roll the windows down myself, "this is your first car, why do you need power everything..." blahblahblah. so i was grateful enough at the time to have my LX. anything i wanted to do after i bought the car was up to me.

what is a sunroof for anyway I have an EX and I never use it I never leave it open I don't want dirt coming into my car

well my interior is dark grey, less likely to show dirt....and what is a sunroof for? they're nice in the summer... i mean, what is a convertible for??? same thing. wind blowing through your hair, sunshine on your shoulders..

I love my sunroof. I used it all the time in the summer. Once in a while in the winter, you can just tilt it up. Its a nice feature to have.

My dad had a sunroof as a dealer installed option on his last Mistu Galant. He used it all the time and never had a problem in 4 years. Check around and see if a Honda dealer can install one.

For me that was one of the biggest reasons I got my EX/SI. I love my sunroof, I use it all the time in the summer, cause I didnt get the AC package , but its great.

Are serious man a EX/Si Car without an aircon package. Damn that's bad. I thought getting a DX without an aircon is worst. But an Ex/Si Without an aircon but with Sunroof never heard of that

Re: installing a sunroof

An installer said that moonroofs can leak when the water drains get clogged.
I'm sure there is a way to unclog them.
