i keep seeing all these fake hondas running around. i mean hyundais. (whatever) my old manager had one and said its in the same class as a civic. and even went to say its better than a civic. my 01 5sp ex coupe is stock so is his elantra. he said he could take me he has a 5 sp too. it is not the same class. i need some reasuring here. i just hate hyundai. the italicized H is even a ripp off of honda. man! ok i vented. i feel better. anyone else?
lol, it may be better going 0-60 or what ever tickles his ****. but the civic will always be a step ahead of the elantra. it seems like hes basing his term of "better" on one aspect, and that is going in a straight line.

Hyundai wouldn't know originality if they were hit with it!
The only original thing I'd give to Hyundai is the current Tiburon, which, I admit is better then the Civic, but not by much. It's still less then an RSX

i like hyundai, but i guess that's because i'm korean.
that's all you really see in the majority of korea. there's one area in south korea that has like all the high end cars, but those are really rare because cars cost so much more in korea...

Hyundai has plenty of original stuff, they just don't produce it because they know that their Jag look a likes will sell. If you don't believe me, take a look at their concept cars, they are far better than say Honda or Ford, give Hyundai time, they will come out with some original stuff, but if you where in there position, you would know that have to make what you KNOW will sell. The company simply does not have the resources to go out a limb with production of a radical car yet.
As for an Electra being superior to a civic, that’s depends on what you want out of the car. The civic is certainly a more reliable and better handling car, but it cost almost 4k more (given the top of both), so it better be a better car. Sure the Electra might be a tad bit quicker, but is it as fun to drive? Will it hold its value like a civic? Will it last as long as your civic? Consumer reports say no. But it is cheap car that will last 100,000 miles, so for those looking for inexpensive transportation and nothing more, it's a better car. But I would never say it's a better performer than a civic.

Well, compared to Honda, yes their quality is low, but how about compared to say a Ford or GM? I would say that they are not that far behind.
I'm not saying they are great cars, but they haven't been around for that long, if you compare them to where Honda was at when Honda was the new name brand, they have far more cars sold and a far more ahead of where Honda was. They're a cheap car, you get what you pay for
check the resale value on a loaded 2001 elantra gls 4dr with 50k miles is $7958 vs stripped 2001 civic 4dr dx 67k miles on it mt is $8,005. so even with 17k more miles and no ac power anything abs no radio no anything it is still worth more.

Don't rag too hard on Hyundai. They have come a looong way from that joke they called a car in the early days. For that matter, look at the honda 600. Oh yeah, I would have a lot of respect for that.... And now our Civics are bigger and better than the early Accords! The Accords are fully grown, and a damn nice car at that. My 77 Accord was nothing to rave over. But it did run 25 years!!
Anyway, give them time. I'd buy a Hyundai over any american car in a heartbeat. AND get a 100,000 mile warranty to boot. It is Hyundai's goal to surpass Honda and Toyota in quality, and I bet they'll do it. They are very determined. But this is good for us, because competition will force Honda to up the stakes a bit.

cant wait for 2007 tiburon to come out, i havent seen solid concept pix but its going to be rwd for sure. ill try to find the article again.
you can talk **** on hyundai all you want right now because right now is all youve got. give hyundai some time and they will be on par with honda. sure thing their cars can be unreliable, i go on a tiburon site all the time. once they start making better, more efficient engines and improve reliablility, honda will have to worry about hyundais rise to the market.

Donald Trump probably thinks civics are cheap. So does that make a civic no good?
I drove hyundai elantra 2002 before I got my civic, but honestly they are great cars too
I like my civic better just cuz it's a coupe, but if I were to drive sedan I donno which one I'm gonna pick
