Think you can beat this Saturn? I think not.

BEREA, Ohio — Mallett Cars says it will offer a limited-production run of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky with V8 engines.
The company, an Ohio conversion firm that specializes in high-performance versions of the Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac CTS-V, is customizing the roadsters with the LS2 V8, the most powerful standard small-block engine ever offered in the Corvette. The 6.0-liter V8 makes 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
Mallett has not yet announced pricing or availability on the customized Skys and Solstices.
The production version of the $20,000 Solstice is powered by a 177-horsepower, 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Ecotec engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Sky, Saturn's first convertible, will be powered by a 170-hp Ecotec engine with variable valve timing and a five-speed manual transmission. General Motors says the Sky will be priced under $25,000 and be available in early 2006.
Mallett was founded in 1997 by racing veterans Chuck and Lance Mallett. The company is home to the supercharged CTS-V that recently won the sedan class in Car & Driver magazine's supercar shootout.

nothing wrong with 4 cly. roadster. it looks like they were going for the "exotic" image like the big boys (v12 benz, bmw, mclaren, masserati, etc).
the honda s2000 isnt too exotic

I heard it gets worse gas-mileage then their V8 in the Corvette according to EPA figures. That is very weird considering it doesn't come close to the performance of a V8. Yes, its supposed to be a Miata competitor, but I'm still not feeling it. I'd rather have a used S2000.
I highly doubt that they will be able to fit an ls2 in that engine compartment. The Mallet guys do beautiful work, but they would have to change the entire front clip, strengthen chassi. It would be an different car. Plus cars around those size are more about balance, not a lot of power. With the small block in the front of that car its probally gonna handle like ****. Unless there extensive chassi/suspension work done to the car. Doesn't make sense... to much work= exspensive car (very exspensive)

2. Every company has some sort of variable valve timing now. Honda just decides to advertise it to the extreme.
3. You drive a civic. It looks like a econobox.
4. OMG a tachometer?!? It should come with a 5" one to make it cool!
A civic DX doesn't even have a tachometer.5. The TL isn't RWD (or AWD) and it'd still beat a bunch of RWD cars.

yeah i drive a civic. if you want to trade yours for a sky be my guest. btw ford uses plastic transmission parts. every company has vtec they just don't want to give credit where it needs to be given.
a nice new touch to the walmart line of cars indeed! As i understand it, this ultimate powerhouse (which will sell for less than 25,000.00) has an astounding and unbelievable 170bhp and 162lbs of torque!
the interior is extremely cheap, with a leather stictched wheel and shift **** to compensate for the lack of creativity on this two toned distaster.
"Source: General Motors
With its dynamic design and quick and agile performance, the Sky roadster delivers a bold message about the next generation of vehicles from Saturn.
The Sky, introduced at the North American International Auto Show and slated for production in 2006, is the first vehicle to feature a new look that will influence Saturn's entire future product lineup. The roadster will be followed by a new midsize sedan and a large crossover SUV as Saturn's product portfolio doubles during the next 24 months."
im amazed they are already going to have a whole new line of cars, when they haven't even figured out why their previous cars are pieces of absolute crap.
im reminded of a similar move by TFATF3 producers in an attempt to gain some profit from their previous 2 budget disasters. so they come out with something that looks alittle diff but is generally the same crap as before. i dont care how 'successful' saturn is by suckering people into their crap cars, the quality is unreasonably horid.

Well, just like tfatf, they add special effects. They've got the Redline series, which some people think is supposed to equal AMG or M... I bet there will be a Redline Sky in the near future.
I'll flip out and kill people.
