so here the thing yall. i was talking to these guys and i have a 01 civic ex. d17a2 motor. yall know the rest. i am thinking that i could get my car to 200 hp to the wheels woth a few things. these random guys said there was no way with just bolt ons. i figure intake, exhaust, inderdrive pulleys, a light flywheels and some other things it could be done. i also wanted to play with the ignition system to help out too. i want to get the 200 hp without modifying the internal engine. so like a header would be ok. any suggestions? would be greatly appriciatted. thanx

Rep Power: 0 hahaha. Youll gain 2 or 3 hp if your lucky with all that wasted money. Get a freakin turbo or nitrous if you want to get to 200. Id say turbo.
You got so many responses in 7 minutes. haha, what a noob.
edit- 9 responses in 7 minutes, hahahaha, awesome. ive never had people respond to my threads that fast.

Rep Power: 0 go easy on him guys...new member, make them feel welcome, not stupid...
basically, u want a cheap way to get lots of power, just like everyone else..
NOS is all i can say, get you as close to 200 hp as possible with a 75 shot wet kit without putting loads and loads of stress on your car.
Nos involves no internal engine upgrades, but just don't run prolonged periods of boost, or you may risk engine damage, especially with a 75 shot. Other than that, there's nothing else you can do.
bottom line is, there is NO CHEAP way to get HP out of our cars, cause they weren't made for power. All bolts ons do is better air flow which may or may not benefit our cars since its stock tuned for mileage.
one question you can ask youself is: "do i care about how much money i spend" and from the description of your request, you are not the big spender type, and neither is most of the ppl who drive civics (don't try to correct me, statistically, rich ppl don't drive civics period). If you happen to be rich, and love civics, then drop in a few grand and make that baby run 200-300 hp, else you don't have very many options.
good luck

anyway, 200hp is not necessarily a realistic goal unless your planning to dump thousands into your d17. Or it could be reached with all of the mods you listed and some nitrous...
If you want just engine mods I would shoot for 150whp (which is still a slight stretch, but probably achievable)...other than that, d17's weren't made for power so your stuck
good luck

Rep Power: 0 by the way, it may seem like 150 is very easy to reach because the ex is listed to have 127hp...but thats what the engine puts out, NOT what goes to the wheels. While our engines are putting out 127, just around 100 (maybe even a little less) actually gets to the wheels, so keep that in mind.

Rep Power: 256 too bad i wasnt here earlier i wouldve said something well with my mods which where as follows; lightweight flywheel, stage1 clutch, bored out tb, full exhaust, intake and vafcII i was putting down 125 whp so around 150ish in the engine, without internals i bet you wont put down more than 135 whp and im willing to bet on that (unless you boost or run nitrous) but as all of these guys said 200 hp isnt really possible more like 175hp but whp you wont even come close

Rep Power: 314 well, if the term bolt on includes bolt on turbo, that wouldnt be a bad start to your 200 HP goal.
125WHP aint bad!
