damn. good point. no plug wires. what then? bigger ignition coil maybe. don't know. i already have iridium plugs in it. you can feel a little difference. i needed to do a plug change and the iridiums were cheaper than the stock platinums. anyone else run iridium?
Okay heres the thing
You want 200whp right?
You must decide what you want to spend on this first, then the route you will go to get that(FI,N/A). No one else has done it without FI. If you want to go N/A, might I suggest that you find a hook-up with an experieced shop, or company and get sponsored. Thats about the only way and you might not even hit your goal. Study more about the D series engines and youll see that with a lot of modding d15, and d16 are pretty good when they are built right. Is the d17 in the same class...not yet but someone has to go there eventually and start it off.
Who knows it could be you
Peace

ok this is how you get 200 hp from you d17a2. take everything apart. throw everything away. keep the block. take the block to a performance shop and expect to spend around $6*k easy for a full build. then you might have 200hp +

Anyone wanting to change the stock Coil over plug ignition system is stupid, This system is able to produce enough availible voltage for up to 13.0:1 Compression, but then you aren't using pump gas. The reason there isn' t much aftermarket ignition products is because you don't need nething more, if you buy it you are just getting a name brand. You don't need more spark if you arent' getting more fuel, air or compression. Your car only uses what it needs, it has plenty more potential if you need it. If you plan on changing this system you better be running forced induction or you are just wasting your money. By the way... iridium spark plugs? You won't feel a difference. I run 50 shot all day...and there is no need for more spark cause this system puts out plenty. My buddies 04 SI with a jackson blower on it with 8 lbs, has plenty of spark with more in reserve. You guys need to learn how **** works.. not just replace it with an aftermarket brand (or RICE). All your buying is the name. Any questions ... contact me.

well lets see if its an ex...
127 base hp
add:
Headers : 10-14hp
Exsaust : 4-6hp
intake : 4-6 hp
underdrive pullys : 4-6
fuel rail : 5-7
so right there we are looking at about 27-41 extra hp
127+27= 154
127+41= 168
So were still about 50hp off. humm add a cam +10, 40 off, ehh thats it. closes will make it is about 170. dang. oh well.
wait theres more.. 25 shot of nos!!! (Havent modifided engine yet, lets go for blow!) ha ha theres your 200hp. lol dont forget to change your oil.

k your numbers are a liiiiiittle off
heres more realistic for an ex:
~113 base whp
headers: 1-3hp
exhaust: 2-4hp
intake: 4-6hp
pullies: 2-3hp
fuel rail: i dont know what this does but probably 1-2hp on a d17
add a stage 1 or 2 cam to this and youll probably get ~15 more
but yea youre gonna need like 10 grand to get a d17 up to 200hp

There are some dumb people here...you all have luck with your high horsepower gains from your aftermarket fuel rails. Oh yeah... you don't need 10K to get a D17 up to 200 hp... you need $500 dollars for a nitrous kit with 100 hp jets...I'm not sure how long it will last.. but there is your cheap solution. If you want some real power ditch the fat girlfriend and the D17 and get a small block and make it rear wheel drive with a 4-speed muncie.

my first car was a 89 buick park ave. 3.8 v6 160 hp and 220 torque. this turned out to be a funny thread. thanks for the person who said good luck. i need it. but anyway, i was saying a new fuel rail would be needed if you slapped a turbo on something. i would think you would need a better ignition system with a turbo or super charger. my civic is the second car i have owned. and no i won't give up. i have a mechanic already. just need the green. if i was a rich kid it could be done, but then again if i was rich i wouldn't drive a civic, well maybe.

Your talking wheel hp.. Im talking engine hp. Hince the stock 127 hp. Your never going to get a na D17 with 200hp helll no. You might get the engin up is what i was saying. and nahh it wouldnt take like 10 grand. More like 3 to do it all.
