Getting K2 HID 6000k
hey professional, how much did you get that kit for. i saw a couple kits for around 350 at a place out by me, but i don't know what quality i would get for 350 since i had been told they would run me about 600. also, where did you get the kit, online or a local shop?
hidconversions sells them for $435 shipped.
I don't know about the 6000k kit, but I think the 4100k kit looks brighter. The 6000k just has that purple tint, which looks cool I guess. I'm still pondering about HID's, but let us know how it turns out.

Some people are now saying that the 6000k hids are rice because they try to emulate the appearance of bmw hids with hella projectors. Even though the bmw hids light up the ground white not purple like the 6000k's. I'm personally ordering the superwhite kit myself. Just my opinion though.

it has nothing to do with hella projector it's just different kind look and no the lights are not tinted. The k2 HID's ballasts are made by Massushita(Japan) and bulbs are made by korean company , the difference between philips is that philips only gives the ballasts but the bulbs are made by taiwan. Both are very good. Both have ups and downs. Philips comes in only 1 piece so its less parts to mount, but its got a very short cord so it has to be really close the bulb. Matsushita has a longer cord making it easier to mount, but has 2 pieces so it takes a few minutes longer to install.
I bought mine from my friends store for $320 and my friend is going to help me out install it next week. Oh yeah the REAL Philips HID costs about $1400 which comes with original philips light and ballasts. I got k2 at a cheaper price and besides it looks good so nothing is RICE about that!

Thanks for the info. Yeah, it was the folks at the AcuraTl forum that were calling it rice. They said the only reason BMW and S2000 HIDs appear purple when looking at it is because of the throwaway light that the projectors let through which reflector housings block out. So to get a purple color with reflector housings, the bulb has to actually emit a very purple color like the 6000k's.
That is true about projectors, sometimes when your driving in front of a VW Passat or Hyandai elantra with stock yellow halogen projectors their light has a slight color abberation, this happens because all ellipsoid projector lenses give out the spectrum effect to any color light mostly from afar (1/4 mile). All HID's have some blue/purple in the top of the arc and thats the reason why BMW's and Audi's look purple when your looking at it and white on the ground, but if they hit a bump and the light refracting from the bottom of the bulb emanates you'll see that their HID's are actually very YELLOW. I personally don't like the 6000 kits they are nice too look at, but even more strenous to render colors at night when everything is purple on the ground. Blue and purple have the worst color rendering in inclement weather even if they are HID's, thats why all lexus' have selective yellow fog lights making it better to see in the rain.
