Complete Noob
Complete Noob
Hey, im a complete noob when it comes to cars, i just got my first car, an 01 civic coupe and i want to start to do some stuff to it both performance and looks. I would love for you guys to give me some suggestions and point me in the right directon. here is a pic of my car:
Uh oh. There are a lot of things to do. A lot of which are extremely useless (performance). Exhaust and intake makes it sound pretty cool. I would definately go with a nice body kit, some rims, and a drop. You are looking at quite a bit of money if you do that tastefully. The best thing you can do for your vic however is suspension (sway bars, coilovers, etc.) Good luck to you, welcome to the site, and definately search because I know that's what all the other people who are too lazy to give you suggestions are going to say.

It looks like you already have a catback? Or just a muffler.
What do you want to do? Show, Strip, or Race? For civic....i would choose race. Try doing Autox, go to SCCA, etc. By going this route I believe you can get the most out of your car. You will learn to drive in a slow *** car. There’s not point for drag, fwd, its a civic. IMO.
So...basically, just like all the autox nutz on this site that thought me and said to me..DONT BUY ANYTHING FOR YOU CAR. Race in it for a long time, stock class. It should be fun, then as you progress and learn to drive the car buy mods that will make it better, slowly and with wise decisions that actually make a diff in the car.
Your car looks clean maan, very nice. don’t mess up with catfish body kits, and all that rice ****. But then again...its your car and u spent 14K on it...so its your choice, this is just my opinion that has been also influenced by the best on this site,(aka hawk, S2000man01, jiggerachi, Boilermaker1, Zzyzx, gangrel138, usafstud, etc)
Good luck.

1) Read the forum so that you are educated before you buy anything
2) This isn't a cheap hobby so be prepared to pay a lot for good parts and be prepared for things to wrong
3) I really suggest READING the FAQs at the top of every forum and searching. FEel free to PM people that you find are posting a lot of good info. They are usually helpful
Ultimately, you have to decide what you want from your car. Do you want a slightly modded daily driver, autox car, heavly modded show, drag...etc. And be prepared to pay the price for each one. We can't tell you what to do with your car. YOu have to become educated, find what you like, and go from there. Everyone has an opinion, but it is yours that counts.

welcome to the boards. I would browse the "Member's Rides" section and the forums here to see what people are doing and then you will have a good idea of what is possible.
FYI:
Front bumper, hood, headlights (different bulb sockets but same overall size), dash, gauges, and some other parts from the sedan will fit the coupe. Just look around and then start asking

FREE MOD! Adjust your throttle cable... It is in the DIY section. 01's -02's had some serious lag issues where the throttle cable was loose from the factory so the gas was pressed and the car still wouldn't pull on the throttle cable...

Best advice I can give, YOUR CAR IS SLOW. Stick with looks, that weak lil sohc engine under your hood will embarass you everytime you try to race some one...well...unless you have a stick but even then you're prolly askin for humiliation. However, PICHY2G, HondaGuy12, and can't remember his name have beautifully done civics..check out everyones ride here..
