I really hate this now.
One night, I see a cop behind me, so I slow down and drive at the speed limit (40mph). Five mins later, the cop just speed up to like 50mph and pass everyone without the siren on... If any of us do that and get caught, we will certainly get a ticket for speeding but the cop himself just speed whenever they want...
wtf!

cops can do what they want, when they want, there cops. basically anyone that works for the government does anything they want.
But if you were a cop, you would do it too.

I was pulled over by an undercover cop. and was given a $500 ticket for speeding. a week later my g/f gets pulled over by the same u/c pulling the same violation. but just gets a warnng. and I was in the car with her. now that pissed me off. but now when I think about it. if I was the cop I would have let her go to.

You realize there are different levels of emergency, and I believe only the highest priority calls actually recieve the full strobe light and siren treatment. If someone's being held up, that's important, but if you locked your keys in your car its less important. They'll still try and be punctual, though.

I hate it when I see cops blast their sirens and light up their light only to get to a drive thru quicker. Personally I hate cops errr pigs, I get racially profiled alot. I have had alot bad experiences with the pigs who think they are god all mighty. I have to admit there's a few good cops ie injen, neon and a few others here on the boards. I've meet a few here in so cal but for the most part they're all asshats.

do cops go through some kind of special drivers training that allows them to travel at higher speeds than the posted speed limit? i'm curious because the speed limit is there not just for a rule, but for safety. and if cops are allowed to travel at unsafe speed without proper training, i think that is messed up.
whenever i watch COPS or other police chase shows, the cops seem to be some of the worst drivers on the road.
i could be wrong

They do go thorough trainng... however, we (the Las Vegas SCCA) have had some cruzers show up to our events in the past and run..... pretty much the slowest thing out there.
The do have better driving skills the the average joe, but arnt quite up to the level of the crazys that run autocross regularly.(my policy on police running at our events is this... I'll let them run for free if they do all of their laps with the lights and sirens running.

)they did autocross in police cruisers? haha that would be fun to watch.
i still think that cops should go through a better training program if they're going to be allowed to travel that fast. i've seen cops doing over 20 mph over the speed limit (80ish in a 60) and it wasn't a freeway.
oh yeah, next time get some pics or vids of those cops running autocross.

It doesnt happen very often. and its been a year or so since one has run with us. Ushually its durring our North/South challange in Hawthorn (1 horse town) and the local sheriff comes out (because theres nothing else to do there)
if i remember right the cops around here are only allowed to go 5 over the speed limit and are to obey all regular traffic laws( like no running red lights and so forth) but of course they never do...
I want someone to explain how going 60 to 80 through a city, only slowing down a little to run red lights, is a necessary action to get to an accident or other police calls. I know of instances where innocent people were killed by officers or ambulances that were driving way too fast. How does going to a police call justify driving dangerously and potentially killing other people?

And cops stopped following me around.
