FC, FF, FR what are they?
FC, FF, FR what are they?
I have been reading some japanese car mags.
They refer terms such as FF, FC, FR...I know in the US we use FWD for forward wheel drive.
So, what do they mean? what are those terms?

FF=Front engine Front wheel drive (civic)
FR=Front engine Rear wheel drive (S2000)
RR=Rear engine Rear wheel drive (NSX)
not sure what the AWD cars are called but there are front engine and rear engine AWD cars out there.

cars with 4-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive (AWD) are called; "4WD"

NSX has the engine firmly planted in the rear. Look at how big the back of the car is compared to the front, does a sports car really need a trunk that big? Heh, even hood clearance is obviously not enough to accomodate a sizable engine, no, its rear engined.
Mid engined cars are where its at, IMHO, good balance. I've always liked the assymetric hood scoop on the FC RX-7s

MR cars are usually VERY well balanced.

a bit off topic, but arent well balanced cars, FR cars (not all)? I thought most MR and RR cars are rearward biased.
