ok here's the deal: i was goin up to LA for a party. i got on the 5 N and figured smooth ride...WRONG!!!!! i never realized how horrible the freeways are up there! i thought we had it bad in san diego but compared to LA, san diego is smooth sailin. the road is all f**ked up, uneven paving, huge *** potholes and crap, and i think i hit every one of them. it was late at nite, and i was flying. if i didn't have any struts blown before, i sure do now. i am never goin up to la in my car again...that was the most horrible experience i ever had. just wanted to let everyone know

Man I take the drive up there all the time and haven't had problems like that. I usually drive through riverside, LA, and San Diego. Jeez....just be more careful next time

 

i was on the 5, then 405...horrible...there was massive construction goin on in the shoulders, so i was careful then...but i wasn't really payin attention to the road conditions. which was my bad, but i never thought that it would be so bad. cal trans are out there all the time, you would think that theywould actually fix something, instead of ruining the road even further. especially up by LAX. that was where the worst of it was

You should know that California has the WORSE highways and freeways... this is also why I'm really skeptikal about putting 17s on my Civic because I don't want a pothole to bend the rim and burst the tire. And if that particular rim isn't being sold anymore for a replacement, then I have to get a whole new set of rims. Around here, I've hit some of the largest pot holes (city street-Oakland Chinatown) it scraped nearly the whole left side of the part that holds the bumper to the car under the car. It resulted in me being unable to completely remove my bumper because the head of the black plastic screw is horribly scraped. One of those black screws popped out, too.

Ok, all in all. Mostly anywhere you go in Cali, you're gonna encounter the worse roads from Sacramento all the way down to San Diego. Califonia has the worse roads.

i dont think the 5 is that bad, it might be bit bumpy but its not as bad as say it is. i think the worst freeway would be the 710 that freeway is full of potholes.

hmm. since you're from san diego... you should be going ont he 405 north right? I never have any trouble with it... I drive to LAX plenty of times, I think the roads are pretty smooth... but I usually travel in the car pool lane or the farthest left lane... and I've headed into LA (near staple center) a good number of times too, I think the freeway road quality is fine... or maybe I just didnt notice. heh.

I wasn't driving some super luxury car where I didn't feel the road at all too... just a Honda. so...

at first I thought u were going to complain about the traffic. heh.

I also lowered my car with 17 rims. I always take the 5N goin to L.A. but I don't see it as worse as you think. But I agree 710 south is the worst freeway with lots of truck in it

i was on the freeway the other night and i almost got hit by a fat 35 gallon rubbermaid trashcan bouncing off somebody else's car. the day before that, getting on the freeway to go to work i heard some tires screeching behind me. i look in my mirror and see some sort of car, might have been a bmw 3 series slam straight into the k-rail center divider. tell me the freeway's arn't bad in california now.

everytime i go to la i am always alone so i get stuck on the bad lanes...and maybe it was me, but it seemed like i hit every freakin hole on the freeway. i haven't had any problems withthe 5 s other than stupid people driving...i just wanted to vent. i never actually thought that the roads in cali were really bad, until i spent money on my ride and actually cared about it hittin holes and crap.
