Accident / clutch cable question
What's up guys
My brother was in a serious accident last saturday and he's still in the hospital. He was driving my old nissan sentra SER ('91) and had just got it back from the mechanic days before the accident. He bought the clutch cable for it and gave it to the mechanic to install. He installed it, adjusted it, and then started up the car and the cable broke. He called the local store and returned the cable. Put the new cable in, adjusted it, and gave it back to my brother. Wednesday before the accident, my brother brought it back to the guy cause the clutch felt soft, so he re-adjusted it. Friday (day before the accident) he said it was popping out of first and second gear. The car would go about five feet when you let the clutch out, then it'd pop out.He said it'd pop out and wouldn't go back into gear w/o going into rev first. Anyways, friday nite, the mechanic re-adjusted the clutch. My bro drove it home, then just to work Sat morning. The accident was on a four lane road, two each way and 50MPH limit. He doesn't remember anything, but He was pulling out, taking a left and the car on the left lane T-Boned him right in his door. The frame is twisted and it's amazing he's alive. Anyways, I thought the cable may have broke so I checked it at the junk yard, but it's extremely tight now. Not sure if all the fluid leaked out, or what. Just running the idea by you guys, didn't know if anyone had any other thoughts. I have never done clutch work myself.
Thanks - D

Do we even have a clutch cable on the civic? Mine squeaks like hell when I push it down and let it up. I've sprayed it mad times with WD-40 and still squeaks?
are you suggesting that the cable caused the accident? its hard to say was it the clutches fault cuz you didnt mention driver error. esp cuz the car was T bone and not a result of lost of control. either someone didnt see your brother or your brother didnt see someone else on the road. hope your better gets better. sorry i dunno why the cable would be so tight, maybe its jammed between soemthing now after the accident?

no, all I'm saying is it is possible that the cable was still not adjusted correctly, and it popped out of gear like it did the day before? just a suggestion?
Figure you're gonna merge onto a major road, you think you've got enough time, but if the car popped outta gear like it had been, the other car would hit him.....
My bro got a citation for failure to yield, but he's worked at this place for 6 years, and the road's nickname is "suicide six", (Route 6). Obviously he may not have seen the guy, but I wish I could find out more about the clutch.
