2k2 si (ex) VS 92 Prelude SR
Just wondering if I can keep up with my freind's 92 Prelude SR non v-tec. He has intake and exhaust. He thinks his car is so god damn fast.
He was racing with my other freind with 96 Civic si non V-tec and he beat it like 2 car length away. Do I have a chance. I dont want to race
cause my car still new and dont want to trash it but just wondering anyways. Oh Yeah, I got just intake on my car. Thanks

hhhahaha... sorry to say unless you got sum killer mods on your car....... a Prelude
like that will kill you......
I raced a 93 Prelude non-vtec and all he had was exhaust and intake too.......
and we was like goin 50 on the highway...... he dumped it into third gear
and he was out...... and we was head to head to start and i dumped mines
into third too hahahhaha...........
but than we ended up on a sharp exit ramp that curves like a U turn and he was going
to fast and hit the curb...... Ruined his tire rack and alignment and we had to drive 10 mph
back to my house where he parked it for like three days hahahahha.........

Thats what I though too. In his thrid gear the car pulls pretty good. He was neck and neck with the mustang at one point.
Oh well, better wait fer turbo or something.

WHy not just do it & find out. How many people do you think has done this? There are so many variables that its rediculous. Mods make a difference. Enginge condition & mileage is a factor. I mean I could blow the doors off a 2000 prelude it the engine is screwed. JUst try it out, find out for sure & post up some results! I am not flaming you, but think logically about this & your question.

The Lude Si's are not that fast really. My friend Anthony just bought a 95 Lude Special Edition which has the H23A1 non-VTEC negine. WHenever he and I race... he will pull on me at the bottom of each gear, then I pull back up at the top, and that repeats over and over again, it's pretty much whoever launches better will win. We went to the local 1/8 mile track togehter once and he ran a 10.3 and I ran a 10.4. Pretty close, you should try it unless there's money on it.

I dont think most of you know what you're talking about. You guys are just assuming things.
Yes, preludes are generally fast.
But in the case of that dude's 92 Prelude non-vtec... you may be able to keep up with it, or take it out, depending on its trim level. That being, the S or the Si trim levels.
his car is not that fast. If he has the S, then you can take him out from a dead stop. Looking at the specs, you mayl be able to take him on a roll (provided you know what gears to downshift into.) The dude going on about downshifting to 3rd when you're going 50... try 2nd next time, learn your redline ranges and mph for each gears dude. You dont even hit VTEC when you downshift to 3rd.
if his car is the Si trim, you may be able to take him out from a dead stop. From a roll, you'll have a harder time because that particular trim level Prelude, has the most amount of torque through the powerband (yes, even more than the VTEC Prelude.)
now, what will support my argument?here are the specs:
S, Si, VTEC
Displacement (cc) 2156, 2259, 2157
Horsepower@rpm (SAE net, MT/AT) 135@5200, 160@5800, 190@6800
Torque (lb.ft. @ rpm) 142@4000, 156@4500, 158@5500
Compression Ratio 8.8:1, 9.8:1, 10.0:1
Valve Train: SOHC 16-Valve, DOHC, DOHC VTEC
Curb Weight(lbs., MT/AT) 2809/2862, 2866/2921, 2932/NA
The S has a 2.2 liter SOHC engine, pumping 135 hp @5,200 rpm and pulling 142 lb-ft. of torque @4,000 rpm, it needs to carry a heavy load of about 2,800 lb (about 200-300 lbs more than our civics, depending on your trim.)
The Si has a 2.3 liter (biggest displacement engine in the prelude line-up in the 4th gen 'ludes) DOHC engine, pumping 160hp@5,800 rpm and 156 lb-ft. of torque @4,500 rpm... it has to carry a heavier load of about 2,900 lb (about 300-400 lbs heavier than our civics, depending on your trim.)
So once again, yes, its possible to beat a 92 'lude non-VTEC. But obviously, other conditions comes into play. Tires/rim size, quality, weight... gear ratio... transmission, weather condition... road condition... many more, but most important of all, driver.
anyway street racing is silly with our 16 sec car (in my opinion) so be safe about it if you're really gonna go for it.
well, hope you guys learned something. oh yeah, I didn't really factor in the intake and exhaust cuz in my opinion, they dont do anything.

Mustang GT i dont think you'd keep up with, but the V6's are slow. Either way it's a Ford and deserves nothing more than to be used for hauling sh*t.
