Whats everyone think of the SRT-4 i know its a neon but its a neon with ***** so whats everyone think of them
piece of **** with a piece of **** power plant
they suck... seriously though, they're not dependable at all. my friend HAD one and it was in the shop ALL the time.
It's cheap speed. Kinda like it that's it's quick, but then again it's a neon. I wouldn't buy it and don't really respect the people driving them too much.

2 of my freinds have them there good nice cars, alot of room, goes 13.8 stock, and has serious mods available under warrenty. yea the tps's go outa whack and a couple other lil things but he's only hit the dealer once and he steady beats it.
and u can get them for under $20,000
i would have bought 1, if i didnt just buy the civ

would be fun to drive for a day. wouldn't want to own one. Had zero problems with the vic for 3 years. I'm sure with the neon it would be 3 years of going to the dealer every week.

Another bottom line is that the SRT4 is the fastest car you can get for the money, for 20k you cannot get a faster car. The upgrades are cheap to make it even faster.... no one touches a new SRT4 in power:money ratio.
it would be a nice show off car... not as reliable as the hondas... maybe because our cars are friggin slow? and of course we don't drive it as hard, coz NA civic ain't got no ***** like a chilly winter morning... I would drive an SRT anytime and I would drive it hard everyday like most of us will do, and yes they will break down often... if I set my boost at 10PSI to match the SRT's WHP I guarantee my honda will break as much as the Neon... I have respect for the SRT's, but nothing last forever if you don't take care of it... just my .05
I had respect for the car, if only because of its engine, until I sat in one. I'm confident I could build a better car in my garage, and I guarantee I wouldn't come close to breaking the door everytime I closed it.
wow, so much hate for a car? You guys worry to much about image. Geez, for the money, it's the fastest thing out, period. I like them and they shouldnt be frowned upon. I noticed everybody just goes with the group, so if somebody jumps off a bridge, u'd all probably follow suit. It may be "just a neon", but what is a turbo civic... "just a civic". Good cars, that have stupid pull.
well, they guys on the srtforums brag about their engines being "bullet Proof" and not all those mods are covered under warranty. Is it too early to tell how "bullet proof" these engines are? theres a whole bunch of stuff out, but damn in less than a month 5-6 popped up in my small *** town. Its like when these ppl say "civics are a dime a dozen" well the srts are like a nickle a dozen, I see them every where now.
I think if it were like a beater or anything but my daily driver I'd buy one, or If I wanted like cheap somewhat realiable speed.
its a good bang for the buck though

my parents have owned alot of chrysler cars... from a 78 dart to 85 relient which Lasted to 1995 then got a 94 sundance lasted til 2000 (got smacked in a accident) then a 2000 cirrus which i sadley flipped somehow in 02 then got a 98 RL which was a LEMON and now a 04 Jeep
i almost bought a neon but here is a list of things i couldn't get myself to live with
1. power windows for the front seats only.. roll up in the rear
2. sunroof open/close switch was the same as window's switch and looked out of place
3. wanted silver, black or blue but dealer said he couldnt find one of any color
4. dealer would only give me $1K for my trade in
5. car had a $3K rebate but the dealer wouldn't move on the Invoice price
dont knock reliability of these cars i had a 95 dodge avenger and i sold it with 127,000 miles on it (sold it in oct 2004) and its only problems was the climate control lights went out and a bad radiator.. nothing else went wrong

Can we beat another topic into the ground like this one. Seriously. That horse has been dead for a while now.
its a good car but not a reliable daily driver considering its dodge and a low end model dodge vehicle with changes.
Lowsky, the Chrysler vehicles your parents owned lasted long time probably because they took good care of it (ontime maintaince, doesnt smash on it everyday, etc). i think any car will last a good 10 years without mechanical problems as long you take good care of it as told so in the manual. but nowadays, most ppl would love to have fun in there cars without **** falling apart. i have never owned a american car but in my honda civic ex, i smash this little car like no tmorrow ever since i hit 10k, and it still runs like new.

Who doesn't want sub 30k 12 second car under warranty? It's not a bad car, I don't own one neither does a close friend but know a couple ppl with them and they seem to be reliable. They're not bad looking if theyre dropped like 4" and they haul *** which is a plus.
^^oh yea it does! I think it sounds terrible like an old car backfiring or something.

actually the vette is the best bang for buck in terms of power and speed. the vette is superior to the neon in power:money ratio.Originally Posted by HustleLikeM0FO

and for only 20k, no you can't get a faster (in a straight line, that is) BRAND NEW car for that much money.
what amazes me is this mentality that a car that can book down the 1/4 mile fast means its a good car. this 1/4 mile mentality, however, seems to be the american way. even though we all talk about 1/4 mile this and 1/4 mile that, and we all try to make our car go faster in a straight line, just about NOBODY buys a car based upon it's 1/4 mile time alone. if you do, then you're a ricer moron.
there is so much weighed on your decision to purchase a car. reliability, resale value, looks, feel, build quality, warranty quality, handling, interior design/space, and even brand name. all of those things are just as important as a car's 1/4 mile. above all, the only question is, are you happy buying the car?
that's why the neon sucks. because for the money, you can get cars that excel more than the neon in SO MANY of those other areas, even if they don't run a 1/4 mile in the same time that the neon can. IMO, to say the neon is the best VALUE for the dollar is horseshit. for less money, you can get a LOT more car in all those other categories.
Dam I guess all u guys are hating cuz its faster than a 7thgen
. Come on!! For the price you cant beat it!! I bet if our vic came wit turbo stock it will have the same problems......

blah. read my post above yours. again. fast in the 1/4 mile does not equal good car.Originally Posted by dru106

. Come on!! For the price you cant beat it!! I bet if our vic came wit turbo stock it will have the same problems...... and no, i doubt the civic would have anywhere near as many problems even if it came turbo'd. there is a great difference between domestic and import build quality.

How many people can afford the vette? How many poeple can afford an SRT4...... thats how I look at it. So the SRT4 is the best bang for the buck from that prospect. Originally Posted by S2000man01

Also, I dont know why people bring up reliability everytime the SRT4 is mentioned...... Dodge's reputation in that department is shot no doubt and I'm sure the SRT4 has it's share of problems but really, who gets an SRT4 for reliability?
WHen you get a car like the SRT4 you are looking to drive the hell out of that car and thats what poeple do, things are bound to go wrong. If you drive the **** out of our Civics every day it will have just as many problems as the SRT4 if you drive the hell out of that.
I also saw someone post that the SRT4 has a shitty interior, it looks ugly bla bla. Ok, so what? Who gets a fast car like an SRT4 for the looks? People get this car to beat the hell out of.... I'm sure looks dont really matter for a car thats fast. Back to the interior, it probably is ugly and cheap.... but look at all the people who strip their interior out on this site to reduce a little weight.... these people dont get bagged for leaving the interior looking 10X worse then the Neon. A lot of hypocricy going on here.....
I mean, so many people on this site think that "sleepers" are totally awesome, many love the fact that a car looks like a POS but when it comes down to a race that POS looking car will take people out. Look at all the "JDM" style cars here, you slap on some ugly black wheels, drop the car and leave it stock which in turn you're leaving the car slowwwwwww. But when it comes to the SRT4 all of the sudden looks of the car and the interior matter....
Maybe the reason this site is so anti SRT4 is because we bought our cars for a different reason then what the SRT4 does.
I got the Civic because it has qualities that the SRT-4 DOES NOT have like:
GREAT RESALE VALUE *Most importent to me*
Reliability
Great Gas mileage
These features are much more importent to me at this point of my life then having a fast car and this is why I chose the Civic.
I cannot judge the SRT-4 because poeple who buy that car buy it for a different reason then I do which does not make the SRT-4 any better or worse then our Civic. It all depends what the person wants out of the car....
This topic has been beaten to death and if you have anything bad to say about the SRT-4 then you're an ignorant moron because its a great car for what it is designed for. END OF STORY.
you make it sound as if everyone here who hates on the srt4 has ugly crap done to their car which simply isn't true. i know that may happen, but the majority of the time it's not.
and i brought up more than just reliability. even then, if you drive the crap out of a civic you will still not have as many problems as a neon srt4 that's been driven the crap out of. that's simply domestic vs import there. i drive the hell out of my S2000 and beat the snot out of my first one as well and NEVER had a SINGLE problem.
you also said "if you get an srt4 you dont care about looks... if you get an srt4 you dont care about reliaibility... if you get an srt4 you dont care about interior". well ok, as I said. if someone buys a car based on 1/4 mile time alone and ignores all other aspects, such as the ones you named, then they're dumb. but that's just my opinion. and it's probably a lot of other people's opinions too, considering most people dont simply plop money down for the fastest 1/4 mile time they can find without considering other things.
that's probably why the srt4 is hated on so much.
as for your comment on anyone who has anything bad to say about the srt4 being a moron because it's great at doing what it's designed to do....
well as i said. the srt4 has a lot of shortcoming, excluding it's 1/4 mile speed. so why does that make me a moron? because i wont rave about a car that cant do anything else well except go fast in a straight line?

That's because the s2k is rock solid. And who would honestly buy a car JUST because it's fast? I sure wouldn't...I know who would tho, parents of little kids. EVERY srt owner I've seen is a cocky teen tryin to show off to his friends. They need to realize a stock turbo neon isn't the best car on the road. I'd be pissed if I bought a brand new car and it already ends up in the shop every other week. Makes me so thankful to have the vic. I mean you buy a new car so it DOESN'T have problems.
