Trivia TIME

When im bored at work i like to play this game called car trivia... But it coudl really be about anyhting... you simply ask a question that you know the answer too, and who ever gets it right, gets to try to stump someone else... I guess ill start...

say me and my buddy have the same exact car... both a 7th gen 5 speed d17. Same everything....

i take out my interior, and end up loosing 200lbs...

which car would have a higher top speed assuming i didnt get an advantage from lower drag from less weight on tires...and also assuming there is no time limit, so you can try for as far as you want....

the correct answer gets to ask a question

well...considering there is a fuel cut off around 125ish...you'll both have the same top speed.

well yours will get to the top speed quicker but the other one will just a little bit longer to get there. so i stand by my original answer...same top speed

well, if a fat woman loses 200lbs, she would proabably run faster, so i say the skinny bitch wins..

correct, weight of car has nothing to do with top speed.... its air drag, drive losses and hp....

your turn

Exactly, it the gearing and engine power that gets top speed..... weight doesn't effect anything. Its like a fat guy and a skinny guy on a bike, fat guy and skinny guy would have the same top speed depending on the bike, but the fat guy will just take longer. I'm not a physics person, but i think thats the answer

it very simply goes to the equation of Force = Mass x acceleration.. no matter how you change mass, there is still acceleration. until you meet where the force of the air pushing back at the car is = to the power the car is wanting it to go forward... in which case has nothing to do with weight...

lets see here...kinda easy but here it goes.
Choose one.
Does the first intercooler provide more performance than the second. Explain your answer.

well its based on that setup and waht bosot your running...

im assuming your using the same setup on each... in this case. it again would depend on what boost your running. On a setup of about 200whp, the second one would be better for performance, because the first one would probly net a loss of nearly 2lbs or more, making the turbo work harder than it shoudl for the given hp....

but if you reverse it, and make it run 400whp or so, then the first one would be better because the second one isnt designed to run that much air and not only that but couldnt cool it as good as the first, thus actually loosing hp compared to the first...

so to sum it up...

low boost= second one
High boost=first one

depending on what size turbo you have, the amount of heat may be different. if the two turbos are both small, then the big one is overkill and will just use more energy than the small one. so to answer the question, in a way it does, depending on the size of the turbo...

size of turbo... amount of boost. same thing... same answer...

OOOH MY TURN!!!

not exactly a car question but i still love to ask this one...

2 *****. spheres ( spelling?) , same mass, same weight, same volume...
but one is hollow... assuming there made of a hard substance that you cant see through. how do you tell which one is hollow with out cutting into it..

one could be made of different material as to get the same weight and stuff but being hollow... but doesnt affect the answer to this question....

same mass, volume... by looking you cant tell the difference.. one is hollow...how do you know which is which

Hit it and listen to the sound, theres a difference...hollow one would echo and the solid one would make less noise, **** don't know how to explain and you can drop it on the floor and see the rebound level, the hollow one would bouce and vibrate.

lets say there the size of a basketball and made of titantiumm... no give... wouldnt echo cause 6inches of titanium woulndt vibrate and make a noise difference...

come on.... think about the size of rims and how they hurt the car... same concept here...

If theyre the same weight and volume, they won't do anything different in water.... they have the same density.

If you drop them on a similar surface, there should be a difference between the two. The solid ball will be a deeper thud, and the hollow ball will bounce slightly more. If it's made out of iron, then I really don't know right off what to do.

get a vaccum cleaner, make the motor run backwards to blow air out, and try to suspend the ***** in air. Whichever rotates slower is hollow inside due to friction of the air inside the ball? assuming you havent put anything else inside other than air. lol idk just guessing, but boucing it off the wall and listing to sound makes sense also.

your close, but its not from friction from the air inside the ball...and you cant bounce them because a 100lbs ball of iron would bounce just the same as one thast slightly hollow and also weighs 100lbs...

but the answer is close to rotating... i just want to know why

The hollow ball will have more rotational intertia, since the weight of the ball is focused farther away from the center of mass.

If you could somehow spin both of them with an equal starting rotational velocity, the hollow one would spin much longer.

correct, the mass is farther from the center of gravity, thus having more inertia... so just trying to roll each ball by had, say back and forth would show you which is hollow.. the easiar one to move is the one that is not hollow....

same concept with rims, they could weight the same but one could be larger in diameter and be harder to rotate and stop...
