well im a very busy person. im in the navy so im always leaving for 3 weeks here 3 weeks there. also im married with a son who just so happens turns 2 tomorrow. happy birthday blake, well anyways i dont really have time to change my oil and stuff like that. i have many times but not lately. my maint light was on so i took it to honda for a service. guess what they told me "we cant service your car with the cat off" what kind of bulls*** is that. its not like having no cat is going to affect the oil change in anyway. man i was so pissed. honda always gives me problems when i take my car to them. another time they tried to tell me that my paint and vinyl warranty didnt cover the carpet. while i was deployed to iraq my wife got a stain on the carpet, and she tried to tell me that she had the floor mats in the whole time but she didnt im not stupid u know. so i fought with them for 3 months trying to get a new carpet. i eventually got on after talking with thier customer service dept. well point is i hate honda and i just want to know if anyone else goes through this stuff.
anyone from fresno area i would suggest going over to fresno acura if you get the same problems as me. talk to tom hes a good guy.

so you've voided your exhaust/emissions warranty by removing your cat (which is illegal by the way), and your wife spilled something on your carpet to stain it.
and you're wondering why honda gave you a hard time about replacing the carpet YOUR WIFE damaged, and wondering why they won't service a car that isn't technically legal to drive on the streets because YOU removed the cat?
am i missing something?

first of all my cars warranty is already done ive got 45000 miles on it and two it doesnt matter if my wife spilled something on the carpet. the warranty is if they cant get the stain out themself they will replace the carpet under warranty. one more thing i already know that removing the cat is illegal. im not new to california laws. besides what do you know about california?
i dont think damaging carpet goes under warranty. cause it occured at owners fault and its not in your warranty manual to let you know whats covered and whats NOT covered under warranty. there are different warranties btw, engine, body rusting, etc. as for the carpet, no way they will clean your carpet or replace it for free... unless there real cool people (which sound like there not).
as for simple oil changes, i guess they could be blamed for not changing your oil when your paying it with your money. but it IS pure illegal to drive without a catylic converter in CA regardless. so their doing there best to keep themselves out of trouble and cover for themselves first. my best guess is that they didnt service your vehicle because they dont want to be the center or part of your attention of the cat. if someone finds out honda was servicing your car the entire time without a cat converter, then their gonna be in the head of attention which is they dont want at all.
i say get your oil changed elsewhere, another dealer/auto garage/etc.
theirs also a sticky about how to get rid of the maintence required light in the tech forum

you know i see what your saying, but at the same time i would expect them to void a warranty or not service a car with the things ive done to it. totally understandable. i dont think they would get any attention period because there not helping clear a cel for example there simply changing my oil and reseting a maint light which has nothing to do with a cat. as for the carpet it may not say in the warranty manual about the carpet, but i was told by honda that if they cant get it out then they will replace it. if you read on there paint and vinyl warranty which i purchased as extra btw it doesnt come with the car its like gap in a way if you want it you pay for it. i got the carpet though.
even if i dont have a cat i cant get a ticket for it unless the car is in motion. i cant get a ticket if the car is just sitting there. anyways im not worried about a ticket or anything like that i could really care less.

well i dont know what warranty you have, but again, i've never heard of a warranty that will replace the carpet when the owner stains it with something that can't be removed. but, i digress.
lastly, honda is covering their own ***. if that dealership sees you are driving the car illegally without a cat, technically they have to say something or must hold some accountability for it, because they know it's illegal. I would expect any reputable honda dealer to give you grief about it.
whether you think so or not, having the cat removed DOES relate indirectly to your oil changes. when you put in fresh oil, there are chemicals like phosphorous that burn out of the oil for the first 1000 miles or so. the catalytic converter catches these chemicals and more or less prevents them from getting into the atmosphere. so honda is right for denying changing your oil.
on top of that, i'm surprised you haven't thrown a CEL since you have the cat removed. then again i assume you probably bypassed the cat sensor one way or another.
lastly, the catalytic converter is there for a reason. why did you remove it in the first place? honda is among the best at having free flowing cats, so there is really no restriction, thus no loss of horsepower. other than that, there is absolutely no reason i can think of to remove the damn thing in the first place. even if you had aftermarket exhaust, intake, header, and downpipe, removing the cat on your civic isn't going to get you any more power.
