i wonder if thats 0-60 of the wheels or the car's actual speed. lol...w/ that much power it would be sucha PIA to get any traction in 1st. id be spinning my tires at every stop. i wonder what hear he did that in.

Thanks

10 seconds to 60, give or take.
Usually, drag cars like that viper go with a single-gear transmission and a sick-*** clutch. The clutch "slips" through the entire run, finally grabbing at the end. Most pure drag cars do something of this nature, and the clutch is only good for maybe 3 runs
This is why you don't hear many 8/9 second cars shift. They don't. I took a ride in a 10-second mustang once, and I had breathing problems during the first half of the strip. I nearly pulled a muscle trying to peel my head off the headrest... and this Viper is 50% faster (by trap speed)

I'd like to see something to prove these numbers. I have no doubt this car makes a ton of hp, but 1600+? A 1.5 0-60? Maybe with some type of traction control like they have in F1, but not just a standard (albeit beefed up) Viper drivetrain. Most of these small performance tuners regularly overstate the true hp by 25-50%. Lets see some proof.

Not challenging you dude. It is a nice ride that I would love to have. I am just saying that in general these performance shops spout these outrageous numbers but then when it comes time to walk the walk, they fall short.

well I just wrote them. they can prove the #s for themselves if they care to. I'll post when they reply

Hennesey had a video of a viper pulling a sub 2 second 0-60 and this car has more HP. A Viper drivetrain w/ upgraded Dana axles and 13inch drag slicks can easily do this. And if you doubt the HP, think of this- a standard Viper makes 450 horse, 22 psi puts that at around 1300HP at the crank right there, add the stroker kit and 1600 is very possible, remember this isnt a B16 we're talking about here.
I got that its not a b16. I am specifically remembering an article in R&T a couple months ago, as well as a test they did a year or two ago, where several of these tuners products were tested and the performance numbers fell well short of their claims. Not sure if Lingenfelter made it or not, although I know there cars were included. Also included were Mallett, Vishnu, etc.
Interesting how many on this site are so quick to jump up and demand dyno sheets or time slips to prove mods for our cars, but then will believe any hp and 0-60 claims that some tuner of other cars spits out.

This is why you don't hear many 8/9 second cars shift. They don't. Thats only for top fuel and funny cars dude..
Even prostock cars run at least 5 speed trannies. Ive yet to see a 8/9 second cars using a single gear tranny.

You can not shift 4 times in 9 seconds
,it is so hard to hang on to the wheel you don't have time to think-much less shift!Go in the kitchen and get your mothers (wifes) timmer. set it for 9 seconds. set down in a chair at the table and start the timmer.--------- done!!!!!!!!!!!

Also sub 2 second 0-60 has to be a single speed.

even lisa kubo's civic had a multiple gear transmission. and that was a race built tube frame car.
as stated 1 gear trannies are cars like top fuel dragsters, who have a 1/4 mile measured in a matter of 3 seconds.

7 second cars and 8/9 second cars is a big difference. I dont doubt there are cars that do use single speed, Im just saying the vast majority of 8/9 cars are either autos with some sort of tranny intererupt or good ol manuals.
And yes, there are people running 9's with 6 speeds, it takes a phenominal driver, but it is still done.

They are ok if you don't have power like that Viper.

once you get into single digits like 5-8 second cars, they use an auto transmission. the human body simply can't shift and try to race a 5 second car at the same time. an auto is faster.
