Dodge Neon - POS
Dodge Neon - POS
I thought this was funny...
"Buy a new, entry-level 2005 Neon now and in five years it will retain only 18% of its original value."

To add to this laughter...
Dodge Neon takes second... HAHAHA

the "Worst Cars" border with someones SRT-4... haha The neon and the sentra have two things in common.
1.They are both cheap fast sport compacts.
2.They are both cheap fast sport compacts.
I've been in both and they put all the R&D and time into making these cars as fast as possible and affordable as possible, thereby sacrificing reliability and subtle refinements.
I sacrificed the speed in my Civic to have a reliable car that is quite nicely put together that I will own for the next 7 years.

"I sacrificed speed"
blah blah blah. I'll believe this.. well never.
^^^ Right on Trahma
This thread = ignorance is bliss. I've put 32k hard miles on my SRT with the only problem being a sticky boost guage. And that's daily driven with almost 400 whp with bolt ons. Geez what a POS!!! Ya and all that R&D just for speed but no reliability. Obviously don't have a clue on what you're talking about. All of mopar's R&D was based on reliablity. They ran it WOT around a track in 110 degree weather for 30+ hours and other things. It's easy to make tons of power, the R&D was to take and power and make it last a long long time.
Now keep on with talking about a *regular neon* as an SRT doesn't apply to this and there are to many here that are misinformed about an srt to talk about it...

regardless of whether it's an SRT4 or not, it's resale is still going to drop like a neon pushed off a cliff. which is what the point of this thread was.
Know what the retail value is of a used 2004 dodge neon SRT4?
$18,435
(it's dealer trade in value is a laughable $11,700)
It's original sticker retail value was $20,995. So in one year the SRT4 already lost 13% of it's original value.
And just for comparison sake:
2004 Honda civic EX manual retail new:
$17,350
today's used retail value (with 18,000 miles)?:
$16,750
It loses 4%.

yeah, but the lancer and impreza in their lesser forms are far better than the lesser neon.
not to mention the fact that the EVO and STi own the srt4 in every way shape and form.

15,100 for trade in and 17,700 total for a used 2003 SRT with 32k miles. Go ahead and check yourself. http://www.nadaguides.com Not bad considering I paid 19,400 for mine...
Probably applies for the regular neon, but not really on an SRT. I could really care less about resale anyhow since I'm keeping mine for a looong time.
Reason I posted was due to just some of the retarded uninformed comments on the SRT.
And with the evo and sti owning the SRT, well they should perform better being that they're around 10k more expensive...
I was going to buy an Evo in the first place, but couldn't justify spending that much more. I would've hated to pay that, then have a stock SRT come up and pull on me on the highway. Last edited by qwiksilvertrav; Feb 28, 2005 at 03:19 AM.

lol a stock SRT4 isn't going to pull on an EVO at any speed.
by the way, nada tells me 13,875 for trade in, and 16,325 for retail on a 2003 srt4. (also nada are usually inflated compared to real world pricing... dealerships use black book values which are more realistically aligned with blue book values)
but beyond that, you really cant compare the neon to the evo or sti anyways. completely different cars for completely different platforms.

With a projected reliability rating that is 181% lower than that of the average car, Ford's Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicle is the least reliable car on the market, according to Consumer Reports.
From the same people who complain about others dissing Honda's we get this kind of thread.
At least an SRT-4 is a vast improvement over the regular neon. The Civic Si is an embarassment in that regard.

was the evo running stock boost?
i'm talking stock for stock here. even without its AWD advantage, i dont see a 13 flat EVO getting pulled on by a 13.8 srt4 at freeway speeds....

Your buddy didn't know where to shift I guess or he had a boost leak of some sort. SRT's easily take S2000's and 350Z's stock for stock. BUT, an SRT will get owned at the track by these two cars, thats where their designed to shine. Also from the thread, your buddy was talking about the One Lap of America which an SRT took first place against 350z's, s2000s, evos, sti's, etc. I did have 1500.00 in suspension mods though.
Not hating, but just trying to educate some of you have no clue to what an SRT is pretty much.
And finally, the difference in your price is probably from the area codes being different. Either way, that's not all that much depreciation considering it's a 2 year old car with 32,000 miles.
And plus, if your going to buy an SRT, considering what it can do and what it's capable of for the price, but you're worried about the depreciation, well, need I say more?
You then belong in a Civic and not an SRT... Last edited by qwiksilvertrav; Feb 28, 2005 at 01:59 PM.
