how miles on the car? You might still need to break it in. I have a 04 auto ex with 30k on it and i got 35mpg on my last fill up. But i also do 80% highway though.

how do you drive? i usually keep my rpms 3k or below. Going past 3k rpm can eat up gas so can a lot of stop and go driving.

You should get that checked out or something. But Arco gas sucks, I'll tell you that. I seriously feel the lack of power in my car after filling my tank with it. Seems like my tank is full of 80% water and 20% gasoline.

21 MPG??

I get 35-37 on average. It is mostly freeway driving at 70 to 80 mph though. You should still get better than that though.

I have an automatic, drive 90% highway and get close to 400 mile a tank. I was very surprised to discover this because of my love for mashing the petal into the floor.

My car is an 01 DX.

Take a look at tire pressure, inspect air intake and filter, check or replace your spark plugs?

No way your subs weigh too much, my one 15 weights around a little over 100 lbs. with the box. And that is without the amp, and I get around 32 mpg, the weight isn't a problem...Do you weight over 500 lbs? I think that would make a difference. Then again I don't think a 500 lbs. person could fit in a vic.

my girls 02 protege's regular driving shift point is at 4k rpm! i imagine thats why she gets less gas mileage (also- the bigger 2.0 engine).

See this figure for example of removing your air filter. It's on the very top of your engine. There are screws all the way around it and one in the middle.

I live in the dry, dusty, desert. So I try and change my filter every 15K miles. It's very cheap and easy to do. If you would like, I can do a step by step for this? I will be replacing mine this weekend.

Not to be rude, but... are you sure you're doing the math correctly? I always got around 21mpg in both my Camaro SS and my GS300. In my civic with a different final drive ratio and through I5 traffic I still average about 35mpg... and that's with the occasional trip to 6K.

man ive got an 04 auto too..... 8k miles...... i get like 24 mpg..... usually anywhere from 20-24.

i try to keep it under 3k rpm, but then it seems like i wont go anywhere unless i bring it slightly above, or 2 around 4k.

i use chevron everytime.....87 gas. never tried putting the better gas in it tho, cant afford that.

i do like 50/50 city and freeway.

wahts wrong with my car!?????

I got 20mpg a while ago. All city. That was a month after i got 40mpg on all freeway. Then recentlly i got 30mpg on all freeway. then i thought my fuel gauge was busted cuz i was driving mostly city and the guage didnt move much, that time I got 35mpg on 200 miles of city and 100 miles of freeway. So i have no idea on what to expect since my car is being inconsistent on me.
