Parking your Car....away from others?
Hey,
I don't know about you, but I try to park my car the farthest away from any other car.
I did this especially during christmas shopping.
First off, I hate waiting and waiting to park closest to the location, I could care less if my car is 10,15,20,25 etc... feet closer.
The way I look at it is the extra time your trying to park your car closer is the same time you could've used to get the first availble parking spot in the boonies and walking to the location.
I also do this so on the way out, I can mess with these people's mind on waiting and following me. Yes its immature, but its hella funny.
Anyways back to the main topic. I always park away from other's car, I'm also worried about old people or kids or whatever opening their doors and smacking mine. Also here in SoCal drivers are basically stupid, and are always doing something to intentionally distract themselfs so they can cause me a heart attack, so I avoid backing up with no visible clearence to both sides.
Or if I have to park next to a car, I try parking next to a luxury car or something that looks like its in good shape, because it gives me some insurance that they won't be careless.
Yes, I'm ****, but when you put so much into a car you gotta take all pre-cautions into considerations.
Don't get me started on speed bumps.
Or
Following Trucks (with those stupid dirt pebbles)
Or
Birds. (Where is the damn pellet gun)

I with you SugarRay. Especially when I go to work I try parking as far as I can with no cars around me. But always I hate it when someone happens to park beside you and there's so many more empty spaces all around. But definately parking further away is better.
Sup, I work at the mall so I deal with this almost everyday. The real trick is.. either park far away next to a street lamp or park right next to another nice car. I have a friend who is always at the mall (works at another store) and he has a hooked up cougar... makes my car not look as good but better knowing that no one will hit me from the side.

i deffinatly feel you on that one sugaray...i work at kmart so i have to deal with it everyday but i park far away and i take up two spaces just to be on the safe side, i swear people have no respect for a nice car, instead of being like "Oh thats a cool looking car" and going on with there life they go "Oh he has a better car than i do, lets key it" and it pisses me off cuz not onlydo i have 4 dings in my car but now i have a scratch running from the edge of the door to the top of the wheel well...you do not know how pissed off i was, i seriouslywanted to kill someone....its not too deep i am going to buff itout this weekend, but still im pissed...
I park far away at work and a nice eclipse gt parks next to me so I am safe there. I try to pick safe spots when I am out shopping or whatever, but sometimes you just can't. parking next to nice cars is usually a good idea because of the whole respect thing that comes with owning a nice car.

I hear you on the gravel trucks. Here in Wa. the dam DOT uses gravel on the roads to ensure traction. Last I checked gravel makes you loose traction, so WHATEVER! Anywho, now I got like 4 rock chips on my car. The bad thing is they aren't on the hood, no, two on the bumper and two on the psgr side. The bumper I can handle, but, the side? WTF? I'm pissed at this state. If I had a choice, I'D MOVE!

Yeah i do that too. At work I park in a spot that only has another spot on one side, so the car next to me usually won't bang my car. It is funny because the people that usually park near me is a new Prius, a new Spec-V Sentra, and 80something corvette in great condition. I guess we all have the same idea, so we are careful around other cars.
i feel the same way, i always look for a corner parking spot no matter how far it is. Sometimes i feel like an idiot doing this but i don't have any door dings yet. Hopefully i can keep it that way.

I feel the same way. I work at a movie theater, and the back parking lot is mainly for employees, so it's never really crowded. but I usually park taking up 2 spots, to keep other cars away from mine. there's 3 other people who do that too. also, when I parallel park, I try to find a spot where no one can park in front of me. twice I've been hit by some guy backing up, and neither left a note
i hear all of you... i always find myself parking at a curb spot, where either the driver side or the passenger side is like an inch or two from rubbing up on each other. it leaves a huge space on the other side.. but what i hate is that when someone tries to park next to me, they think theyre way off because theres that huge space, so they try to make it even.. someone did that and left a beautiful scratch mark on my door. i saw the person who did it too and well, he flat out denied it. *stoopid h*e*
I have parked close to the mall twice in my car...and both time i drove away with dings...so now i park as far away as possible...but it still seems that however far away I park someone will come and park on all sides of me.

Im with everyone on this one. I try to park away from people or leave enuff space for people to open their doors. I like parking at the end or begining of a row that way i only have 1 car next to me and i try to give that 1 car plenty of space.

Hey man, I am with you on that When I used to have my killer 2 dr Camry I would park the car as close as I could to the entrence to the mall or grocery store, then I noticed that my door looked like somebody was shooting using my car for a BB gun practice. ever since then, either park far away or park next to a porsche or Benz!!
I am the same way, I've had my car for 6 months and no scratches or dents because I park in the back. My friends always raz me because I park so far away, that is because they don't have a new car, or a honda. My dad parks his Accord in the corner spot at work, the only problem is that in the summer, sap from the trees gets all over the paint. Also, the landscapers scratched the side of his car with a leaf blower or something.

<< i do the same thing
especially when im on campus @ school >>
OMG, don't get me started on parking at school campus.
Seriously, I think my pet peeves about my car are whats going to end my relationship with my g/f. I'm just joking, but she really hates my car.
It doesn't help the fact that I tell my car " Your my only baby" and "Don't worry, your my first love the other(my g/f)is just the thing I ride.

But really, while she likes rollin in the car, she hates the fact that I put so much effort on keeping it rice...Er.... I mean NICE.
