DX Slow?

I've noticed over the last while that people say that the dx is slower than the lx, anyone know why people say this? i always thought that they had the exact same engine, if nything, the dx is faster than the lx cuz there's no power equip to weigh it down.....before the flaming starts, i'm not saying that it is faster, i'm just saying that if there was any difference, that would be it

Just deal with a slow car. I have a LX and I think I can beat the EXs. I can, too. and a DX driver could beat me, and I could beat a different DX driver, and a EX could beat a DX, and Ex could beat a LX, and DX could beat a EX!

Yeah your right, the DX should be a tad faster, but on the grand scale, both are slow. If I was going to really mod a car up, like drop a K20 and all that, I would use a DX becasue it is lighter and it has less equipment to worry about (A/C mostly).

hmm... my dx has a d17a2, and im happy with it for now, until i get the cash for the b18c5 swap. the engine did not come in the car but mine has AC.

who cares who is faster anyway we are all just 7thgens and thats all that matters its also true what they said about driving anyday a lx can beat an ex or other way around so who cares.

Cheaper? I don't think so... First off a B18C5 is still around 4-5G just for the motor and swap parts, the same as a K20A2 (I think the A2 is the RSX-S? always get confused) Anyway, who make the motor mounts to drop that in to a 7thgen? my guess is nobody, so you're going to have a shop do a costum job whereas you can buy mounts from hasport to drop in the K20. Ya, real bad idea, not alot of room for the intake manifold, the K is lighter, the K makes more HP and Torque and can make 300 HP all motor, no B can do that without big money.

lx have wider gears than ex. I prefer my ex trans when racing, but for daily driving, an lx trans would have been nicer.

LX and DX have the same gearing. It's a taller final drive than the EX. THis gives the EX a slight advatage, not sure if it is enough to offset the wieght gains though. It does mean the EX will top up quiker than the other two though.

SO the LX is better for MPG, and that sort of thing, but not for speed.

actually a complete b18c5 steup with engine, tranny, axels, all the integra front, and ecu is like $3600. And mounts are not a problem. I can custom make those, for the price of the metal to make them.

Let me know how this works out for you. I really like the b series engines, but the cheaper ones are illegal for my car and I always thought the b18c5 was HELLA expensive. If you custom fab motor mounts and get this baby rolling reliably, holla back at me becuase I really want to know how it goes. And that $3600 price is insane for the whole front clip...where did you get such a deal? Is it used? Junk yard?

As for the others saying go with K20, I really like the potential of the k20 as well. But even if the mounts are already made, just getting mounts, engine, tranny, and ecu is not enough. You have a lot of other parts on your car that you have to modify. It's like you need a RSX-S or SI van as a donor car to get the k20 up and running in our civics. The b series engine is no cakewalk either, but if he got all that for $3600, it could be the cheaper route. Not to mention that they have millions of parts for the b series engine and if you hang around forums a lot, then you can get some awesome deals. The k20 is kind of new, so you'll be forking over a lot of money in the long run.

K series is the future of tuning, atleast thats the way I look at it. They type R engine is amazing but it is slowly becoming outdated.
