They want to throttle back the 6, I don't think anyone would care. But to unsportscar an RX8 would be downright moronic. No one buys a sports car to drive like a rolling couch.

^^^^^^^
i think thats a common complaint for foreign cars. I've heard bmw owners complain about how there cars can't hold a 36oz drink. Then i say my 16k car can hold one lol.. I dont think there's anything really wrong with mazda's lineup. I think the mazda 3 and 6 looks great. I know the 3 sells well because i was going to get one and they wouldn't go lower on the price so i just got a 04 civic.
i think there problem stems from the fact that there in a crowed auto market and they dont have anything to make them really stand out. Honda and toyota has reputation of reliability. The domestics have the rep for torque and straight line performance. If there going to take tips from ford, designing wise RIP mazda.

/me waits for nookiemoster to chime in ...
It's a shame about Mazda though. I've really been eyeing the Mazda3. That's a really sexy designed car. Both inside and out. I'm waiting to see if they finally come out with a Mazdaspeed 3 sometime in the future. You know they will.

But then that was my point, a Light weight relitivly low HP sports car doesnt quite fit in to the American Definiton of a Sports car. In america, If it doesnt have 500 FT/LB of torque and do the 1/4 mile in 10 seconds... then obviously its not a fast car.... (Exageration, but you get the point) Americans dont seem to recignize the merit of a small sports car that can dance through turns like they werent even there. Its all about how fast can it accelerate....

Yes, this is has already stirred up alot of **** in the RX-8 forums. From what I can gather from the article, they plan to "americanize" most of their line up, but remember, all miatas, RX-8's, and 3's are built in Japan. I'm not so sure what'll happen with the 3 and the miata, but I do know that RX-8's are built by hand in Ujima, and that would never happen on american soil. I think this more or less will affect Mazda's overall line up...the 6, tribute, MPV, and maybe the 3...
Still it raises concerns, because Mazda is one of the few compaines that designs most of their lineup around "fun to drive" factor. It makes me worry that they might americanize the tranny or suspension setup on the 8...

email is probably the easiest...
Alot of guys are doing it at the RX-8 forums. Yes it's that big of a deal already...

I think its a bad attempt to help sell their cars...
We test drove the "all new" Mazda3 last Feb, and we still bought the 4th year 7th generation civic. The Mazda3's manual tranny felt like a spoon in mash potatoes, we were use to the clickity click of my RSX-S's. Granted the Civic's not as precise as the RSX's, but the short shifter helps
...
The Mazda6 is quite a looker with awesome suspension, but still lacks refinement...
Who doesnt like the RX-8? But I cant afford one...
The Tribute is a lot better vehicle than the escape, but the escape out sales it because it has a blue oval on it...
The Mazda truck needs to be dropped completly...
The Mazda van is really cool looking, but I dont need one...
The Mazda miata is too gurly for me...
I think thats the whole line up, I commend them for their efforts, but I see them slowly dieing. Unless they hire Ghosn(sp?) from Nissan, and I dont think that will happen...

I hope they don't lose that fun-to-drive factor when they try to inject some fun-to-be-in. As for the 3, I believe its one of the sportiest new cars available... I hope they keep the top of the line models sporty while soften up the rest or something...
