Who would want in on a 1.7EL cf hood?

Assuming an approximate price of $500-600CDN, who would be in on getting a 1.7EL hood in carbon fiber?

That's based on the assumption that they'll be quality hoods:
- curved in edges
- OEM fit
- pre-drilled nozzle holes
- decently rigid fibreglass substructure

Because there are just way too many cheap hoods out there and it just isn't worth it unless the quality is there.

Wally, I as well am making sure these things will be quality. I'm the one giving up my hood (PERFECT condition) so at least the molds will be good spec. I'm not paying $$ for this hood unless it's dead perfect. The nozzle holes are necessary for me, and the edges have to be rolled. I will not compromise on the fit either. The hood will be JSP, and I hear (and see) nothing but good about them, so that's in their favour. I was looking into a reverse scoop as well, but I don't see how 10 people would want it so that will likely not happen.

Pass this on to other 1.7 owners too kiddies, I'd like to be able to get 10 people to the table before I initiate talks with these guys.

Awesome TeLLy, I'm well aware that mediocracy doesn't fly in your camp. But once there is enough interest and talks are in order, an ETA would be preferred. I'm certain that many of us would like to reserve funds at the proper time. Oh yeah, as well, I hope the latches will be attached on properly, unlike some ghetto CF hoods I've seen.

vtecpowersumo: depending on weight and quality of latch (which I would assume to be of high quality) there's a decent chance you'd need to use hood pins if you go on the highway a lot. The weight seems to be significantly less than the OEM one, thus, the lift will be quite dramatic

Well, once we get 10 people seriously interested, I'll go to my contact and present the list. Then and only then will I be able to get an ETA. I want it done asap of course, I would want it ready for shows.

Sumo, hate to bust your bubble but I wouldn't recommend driving around with a CF hood sans hoodpins. Too many horror stories. I'm sure you can get a set of black pins so you can minimize the profile, but it's better to be safe than sorry - you don't want these things flying off on the highway.

I can only do so much to reassure people of the quality, especially since I don't have a hood to show off, so I strongly urge people to ask around about JSP carbon fiber components before seriously inquiring about these. I myself am convinced, but I want YOU to be confident about your decision too.

Any Templates?

Hey Telly....

For the hoods, any idea of what it might look like?, you have great taste, but anything you're basing the hood on or even a draft drawing of what it might look like?

PS...that girl might have gotten your old work email from the Acurael.com website.

Just imagine an OEM hood in carbon fiber I guess. They'd be taking a direct mould of my hood.
