how safe is the S2000?
S2000 = $34,000
Re-inforced a-pillar and roll bars = stock
Taking your S2000 off a 20 foot drop, landing upside down with the convertible top down, and being able to walk away with barely a scratch and your life?.... Priceless.

here's another one.
this guy's son took the S2000 off a 25 foot drop through trees, landed upside down, and walked away. again top down. again. passenger/driver compartment remained completely intact and untouched. you can't beat engineering like that.
as he said, the safety of the car held up above and beyond everything honda said it would.

Maybe Honda put extra work into the cabin roll-over safety thing after the bad crash in the Melbourne rally with the Type-R, anyone see that video? That car flew like a spinning football into the trees.
People say the S2000 is pricey, well that old saying "you get what you pay for" has yet another valid point added to it.

thats great and all...but heres a thought, learn to drive WHITHIN your limits. oversteering is one thing and can happen to anyone, you gotta be an idiot to fall off the road.
i dont see how even you can argue with me on that one.

Well reading the post, the guy said he was driving within his limits. He said he's not some raging racer who just flings his car needlessly. Basically it was on a curve, and he hit some gravel and it sent him off the road. So oversteering is what caused his car to point off the short end. lol

C'mon dude..."cheap" and "affodable" are 2 different words.

How close is the s2k to the nsx?
How close is the civic to the rsx
Now how close is the civic to the NSX? Now SHUTUP!
its ALL by LUCK
two examples:
1. I hit a hit pole on my current civic(front left radiator support) a year and two month back sideways at 85mph on a 35mph curve. My front end of the frame moved by 6(YES, THATS A LOT) inches to the right. If I wasn't that lucky, it would have hit my on my side door and crushed me in blink of an eye. I came out without a scratch.
YES, i was stupid. I thought i knew how to drive before i started road racing/kartig/autoXing.
2. My autoX buddy with a 00 celica gts was trying to keep up with me on a canyon cruise. He didn't see the switch back turn coming up from a blind turn. He flew of the canyon about 300 feet out and 100 feet down. His car landed on his wheels. Everything buckled. He walked back up the hill without a scratch.
There is no perfect safety design that you save your life in every situation.
ITS ALL LUCK ON HOW YOU COME OUT OF AN ACCIDENT

bottom line is the point I'm making is you said "the S2k is just an affordable version of the NSX" when really the only thing the 2 cars have in common is they both have vtec and are both RWD.
The S2k and NSX are completely different and are completely unique from each other. The NSX had NO influence on the S2000's engineering.

but it's not all luck how you come out of an accident. the way a car is built will greatly increase or decrease the chances of you getting hurt.
Stop justifying your driving skills after you fly off the road

Some people get careless on big wide flat dry open roadways, what's this guy's excuse?
