no pics but alot of info. And a definite yes for the I-Vtec engines in the the 8thgen. Hopefully i-vtec will be available in all of the civics not just the SI's.

and plus i hate that honda is focusing on saving gas and money for people. instead they should focus on speed and power. The only real nice and fast car from honda is the nsx, but i think it's not enough.

I'm just going to reiterate what has been said before. I won't deny that there are many out there who think like this, but for Honda and probably the majority of people, this is the most sensible solution.

yeah i bet that it's better for honda to keep building reliable/gas saving cars, but at least put some cars out there that can be a match to the new mustang gt or the gto or the 350 z and sti and evo, i would buy a honda that can smoke an evo (if it was in the same price range)

i doubt they will put I-VTEC in all civics. thats what separates the current Si from the EX.

It mentioned a new version of i-VTEC engines, meaning possibly a bigger bore or something, more displacement or whatever. It didn't mention anything about other new gas engines so it would be safe to assume that there will be an engine that will continue (most likely the D17).

i don't think honda would put a performance type engine (i-vtec) in a economy car. It would have happen already. Far as performance, honda is known for the gas/reliability name sake, and it's done them well in the automotive industry. If you want a fast honda, buy a type-s or s2000 or NSX. s2000 is honda famed track, sports car... it's not suppose to go against the 350z or RX8, sTI or EVO... all these car are for different types of people and road condtions. You forget, if honda is gonna drop anything powerful into a chasis it's gonna be an "acura", not a honda. Mitsu/Subaru/Mazda don't have that luxary line like Honda/Nissan, so they can put the powerful engines and cars @ the cheapest price.

Lol gearbox you are right again....Honda is NOT about racing...The civic is viewed as the reliable economical average joe commuter car...Not a giant slaying david ....your confusing the new civic with a lotus elise...lol J/k guys but I too wish that civic would come with a better engine, but im sure they are saving that stuff all for acura...honda is smart they know how to market stuff. In the US most people dont wanna race believe or not, they just want looks...So the looks are there....we are just dissappointed cuz of a lot of us like to feel our backs pressed against our seats...oh well...we can always dream

this is the original quote made by that honda ceo "The New Civic will have 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-door versions and feature a completely new body, plus four new engine options: a new version of the i-VTEC gas engine, a compressed natural gas power option, an improved hybrid system, and an advanced diesel. The award-winning i-CTDi diesel won’t be sold in the U.S. The natural gas powered Civic, to be built in Ohio, will be the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world."

They use this system in Poland, they will run hydrogen on gas stations(normal gas station like we have now) in the near future, however it won't be self service because the tank will be modified and a technician will need to refill your car.
