that's for the coupe though.
wonder if it's the same for the sedan.
maybe the civic Si is the only one that is able to tow anything?

www.carsdirect.com gave me a pretty good idea of what i should be paying for.. the dealer wouldn't match the price on carsdirect but was close enough for it that i went for it.
this is where i found it, the body is slightly different however the engine is stil d17a2 so i assumed id would work for our cars

My girlfriend's dad has a 98 civic hatchback and tow and aluminum boat with motor on a regular basis for fishing trips. I would suspect that the civic would be fine for the dirt bikes as well. Check the towing capacity for the civic in the owner's manual to make sure. I would do this for you but I don't have it with me right now.
Buy the civic man you will be happy with your decition.

stock speakers suck. But with some cheap aftermarket speakers and a good install involving dynamat, it can sound okay. You don't need a sub really if you install the speakers correctly, unless you like rap. The new deck and amp for the speakers. For around $500, you can have a great system for a daily driver.

sorry to thread hijack, but i have a small question to ask the newer 04-05 civic coupe owners, are you're interior door handles chrome? the pass side one on my 02 broke and i was going to replace it, and i know that the sedans have them in chrome, just wondering if the coupes were the same.
thanks.
btw, get the civic

I used to have a s-10 blazer that is still running with 340k miles....what kinda live can i expect from these engines if i takes great care of them. i generallly change oil every 2k and always warm up engine.
Can you PLEASE tell me your likes and dislikes about your civic ex's. Any regrets? good commuter car? reliable?

1.FWD = ok on snow. the car is REALLY light though, so its tougher to drive on snow. but its still 'good' on snow.
2.Don't try hauling anything with it
3.not sure about rpm i have an auto but i think itll be 2.5-3.5K
4.This car will run forever, especially a 5 speed, if you take good care of it
Likes: everything, excellent on gas, fun to drive, somewhat sporty, quick for a 1.7L, quick braking, and also its "ULEV" so thats good.
Dislikes: slow as a turtle after 2nd gear, only 1.7L, ricer stereotype if you mod the body.
All in all its worth the money you will put into it. thats for sure. the car is low to the ground and corners alright from the factory. Its also quick to 40 so slower driving/turning will be fun. the one major downside is that INTAKES, AND EXHAUSTS GIVE NO PERFORMANCE GAINS!!!! people whaste $1000 before realizing that they only got a car with 1 more horsepower that farts.
The thing to keep in mind is that this is a slow car. I swear the car gives you the impression that its fast in 1st then lets you down in all the other gears. Just dont expect it to be fast and you will never have a problem with it. the only recalls i know of are a headlight switch so thats a good sign. I just hit 52,000 miles and the only part i had replaced so far were brake pads, and calipers due to bad pads. The car starts up well in the cold, warms up fast, and runs nice in the winter; it runs fine after a cold start and you can drive it 5 seconds later. It pulls hard before it warms up too
. In the summer the car can keep cool even at idle on our 90 degree days so engnine wise its a great cooling setup. Power wise for 1.7L you cant ask for much more low end torque for pulling out. Its plenty to get you moving. A/C is really powerfu, tool and I usually have to keep it low to not freeze.Seats are comfy, especially the rear seats for a small 4 door! thats a nice surprise. Its roomy in the interior but if you're over 5'6" youll be pushing the seat way back. All in all its an excellent investment. The car will last longer than you will want it to.

I was in Uhaul renting a truck, and the picture on the wall showing the tow-trailers had a 7th gen civic towing the smallest trailer!!! Like the 6 or 8 foot one ... And I dont think 600 lbs is too much for any car to tow ... thats like having 3 passengers ...

i have a 04 civic coupe ex, the door handles are not chrome. There just black plastic like the 01's. I would suggest just painting it silver if you want color. Its pretty easy to do.

Theres 12k still owed on the explorer so i have two choices. eitehr keep the explorer which is super nice and powerful (its an xlt) and pay xtra gas and all that crap, or for about another 5k i can get a brand new, fun civic, but its a little econobox with less luxury and little power. I dont wanna make a stupid decision. what do u guys think? i love my explorer, but sometimes its really boring to drive, its this soccer mom gold color, and gas is horrable (i dont even have the v8!). The civic seemed like it wouild be more fun to drive cause of the manual, i could drive a lil faster cause i dont have to worry about flipping and stopping all teh weight, and gas mileage is great.
I'd really appreciate an unbiased opinion. thanks

I think both cars are great for its own purpose. For snow & towing, no doubt the Explorer are much better than the Civic.
I think the Civic is just a good city driving car. If where you live, the winter can be horrible, I would say stick with the Explorer. The Civic is good on the snow but the Explorer is great.

ok, well heres the latest news. My dad said hes fine lending me his X for towing to the motocross tracks. Im surprised, but he seems cool with it. So now that thats taken care of, why are some people saying to get the TC. Is that as reliable as a honda? i doubt it. And the whole point of the civic is to get crazy gas mileage. The rsx-s is too expensive plus i really dont think there that nice looking. Id rather have a gti or something like that at that point.
I still need to test drive the Vic again. I never really got it moving so i cant determine if the horsepower (or lack of it) is acceptable after 3rd gear.
My dad seems to think i should get the coupe. I dunno. The couple seems smaller, is a PITA when it comes to having people in the car, and quite honestly...i dont even think it looks that great. I hate the back of it. The rear window goes down and then teh trunk is just straight back. it looks weird.
What do you guys think. Coupe or Sedan? I think if i got the sedan id get teh little spoiler for it to make it a little sportier.
Diskreet, thats funny u live in hazelton. I live/visit Gouldsboro...know where that is? its right near tobyhanna and Hamlin.
well, thats all for now. Im still having the Pre-buy jitters. Im afraid ill make the wrong decision.

Honestly, between the Civic & the TC, the TC is more fun to drive. The engine is more powerful too. The TC will be as reliable as a Civic since they are built by Toyota. In general Toyota & Honda made the best Japanese cars when it comes to reliability & build quality.
As for the gas mileage, I don't think the TC would take more gas than the Civic. The MPG on both cars are very similar. The only thing that's good about the Civic comparing to the TC is the interior space. The Civic is more roomier than the TC.

I think the coupe is better looking. the roofline looks lower and the car flows real nice and its a few millimetres longer than the sedan. If you have kids and your gonna have people getting in and out of the back a lot, youll wish you got the four door. The new four door EXs are real nice in that magnesium but I still would say the coupe is nicer looking, it looks sportier. I think insurance will be lower on the four door.

IS there any way to liven up the civic. All you guys are saying intakes and exhaust dont work. And i DEFINATELY dont wanna rice is out. What about chips? anything. I dont wanna ruin reliabilty with a turbo, nor can i afford it.
