As i found out today, and may come as a shocker to some of you. Our engines DO NOT HAVE AN OIL PAN GASKET. Techincally they do but our gasket isn't a normal gasket that you would see on a b16 or almost every other honda. We use, what is called, a double bond andhesive(which is a bitch to take off after it has dried and been on the vehicle for a while). Why am i saying this is f***** up? Because coincidentally i need to take of the oil pan. And because im a backyard mechanic with my primitive tools i can't do much but i bet that if our engines had normal gaskets i would be able to take it off.

It's HondaBond. It's not that hard to break loose. Just get a large flat screwdriver and *gently* hammer it inbetween the motor and pan and it'll loosen right up.

hahahahaha.........u act as if u are working on a futuristic car. I took my pan off in 10 min......that includes loosening the bolts.
Crawl under the front of the car and near the tranny there is a tab........pry on that and pound the pan with a rubber mallet. Turn the wheels to the right and reach in through the wheel well and there is a tab there.......pry on that too.
Keep doing it till she comes loose. After it is off the motor........scrape off the excess honda bond and clean it up.........use some high temp RTV or get some more honda bond. I used Komatsu gasket maker which is like $15 a tube...........so far no leaks.

screw driver didn't work for me.... but try using a craw bar, or a chisel hammer or whatever they call it... normally hammers have that s l u t in the middle to pull out nails but this hammer i'm talkin about is just a pointed flat metal on the other side of the hammer that drives the nails...
when you slide underneath your car lookin at the front right corner of the oil pan has this extra metal piece sticking out, place the craw bar or the pointed part of the hammer their and yank it out, don't jerk it, it will fall on your face like it did to me i.e. big lump on the forehead and busted lip and oil all over my hair kinda accident... don't get lazy and drain oil prior to taking oil pan off
well good luck I hope I helped you out...

just a question for all of you, when you removed your oil pan, did you have to remove the downpipe to get the pan off, or were you able to remove the pan without having to take off the downpipe?
