V8 Vtec?

ok i been reading and hearing rumors about a V8 vtec engine coming out in 2006 or 2007. is there anyone else who have heard of this if so any idea of the size? and what is it gonna be in besides the NSX, maybe a new SUV or a Truck, that would be cool if honda came out with a Truck. i'd buy it.

I too have heard such rumors. Most of them came from vtec.net . I believe it is plausible. There are even rumors of a special NSX-R version that will be a V8 turbo. I'm not too sure about that one, but the largest engine manufacturer in the world could do a lot more magic witha V8. I mean, they already got awards for having 2 of the best 10 engines. Think of the tuning possibilites of a V8. Like you mentioned, they're also probably going to put it in the truck, esp it being in the same market as other v8 trucks. It could also go in a higher end model above the RL, which would close the gap in price between the NSX and RL.

isn't the whole piont of vtec supposed to be to get fuel economy when ur not flooring it? and more power when u want it where vtec is engaged? shouldn't a v8 already have the power it needs and have crappy gas mileage?

yeah thats true, but tunners have found ways to make the vtec kick in to give more power lower, i mean they have v6 vtecs in the legends. just even more power, i can see vtec in the nsx, but a honda V8 in general would rule all.

Hmmm... another thing about V8's that a V6 no matter how Honda tunes it is towing capacity. That's where that could come in play too.

Those rumors have been flyin' around for a long time....That motor was supposed to go into the NSX until rumors started going around that the NSX would be a 400hp hybrid......Im sure honda is ontop of a V8 in production. They've already made one that is put in open wheeled race cars. Now that would be a cool swap into a civic. LOL

Metallica454 is an unknown quantity at this point
Ford's new 4.6L V8 in the Mustang has variable valve timing. As does Toyota's V8 (I think).
