is it me or do other people on this site meet people like my neighbors who say hondas or acuras cant be fast and when i said that there r some 10 sec drag civics they say its impossible. They always say 4-bangers r slow and arent meant for going fast. Then my cousin says if it isnt a turbo diesel then it is not fast. I respect any car out there thats fast but when r people gonna stop criticizing imports (hondas/acuras). Just wanted to know if i am not the only one that gets tired of peoples ignorant comments.

when stupid kids and stupid mexicans stop putting APC stickers on the windshields, big *** mufflers with 10 ft. tall wings, 15 inch spinners, and neons that light up a city. This is why all hondas are criticized. That is why I went back to stock. Stock headlights, stock hood, stock exhaust, stock intake. And now I like it better. It all started after the fast and the furious came out. That is when kids figured having a big muffler and a wing would *** 100HP on there car. Even race shops are turning rice now. Its rediciouls.

i know alot of people give hondas a bad name but i also see other domestics with apc stickers or spinners. Its just that only a couple of people at my school etc give them credit. Even after seeing a 13 sec civic that is daily driven and legal people still hate at my school. And my 04 is all stock except an intake and everyone refers to it as a rice rocket. I guess i should be like all the other people around stockton and get a truck with spinners/system and bump lil jon lol.

I hate it (hater's attitudes) a lot because everyone refers to my car as rice this or I'm a ricer which is pretty stupid because I'm asian and I actually love rice.

A lot of times this also comes from someone who drives an SUV of somesort and has money coming out of their a$$ to afford the gas on monster V8's...

its never gonna stop, i would blame the media (mainly the "2" movies) because that influenced ppl the wrong way to mod a car the "right" way than immitating a movie or what they see on tv.


their are many quick 4-bangers... 'they' just never bothered doing their homework and searching

i know how it feels to live in an area where bunch of hicks and cocky guys drive only domestics while your basically the only honda owner. its majority if you think about it. you may feel unwanted and critizied.. but think of it this way. if someone rolls up with a mustang or camaro in an import crowd, most likely those ppl will bad mouth the mustang just because its a domestic. majority rules.

the biggest influence imo would be high school students and the idiots immitating what they see trying to mock the scenery. not just imports, every car from beetle to supra.

so far today every vehicle that pulled up to my work with an apc sticker was a dodge caravan filled with dominican republicans. then again my city is overrun with them so thats all i see and thats why i am quitting my sales job. not that i dont like the race, but i dont like any in my area... all but maybe 10 leech off of the government and do nothing but cause trouble and make noise. not saying that to be mean, its the truth.

also Anyone with domestic cars like mustangs that make fun of imports will get to see me point and laugh as they are explaining to the cops why the crashed into a tree on the snow with rwd as happened tonight (that ***** redneck jared and his mustang got what they deserve tonight! also the crumbled mustang was the 1st mustang that ever looked "in its place" to me)

It works both ways people. I hate to admit it, but I find myself thinking that anyone who drives a mustang, camaro, truck with loud dual exhaust is a hick. I know its wrong ,but I still think it. Those guys think civics are rice, I think they are country bumpkins. To each their own.

Yeah, I see what you guys are saying, I actually own both. I have a mustang and also a civic. I am modding both cars and thoroughly enjoy owning both cars, I love domestic and import. I think the argument over it is just dumb to argue about. I just LOVE CARS IN GENERAL, doesnt matter who made it as long as it looks good and goes fast. I do agree though about the people with nothing but an exhaust and a apc sticker on their cars, but you cant control what other people do to there cars, or what people say about yours. Just do what you want to your car and thoroughly enjoy driving no matter what someone else thinks. Just my .02 cents

people will always hate cuz they love what they have, i used to have a chevy blazer and i used to hate civics or hondas for that matter, once i drove one, i liked their mileage a lot unlike my chevy which drank gas like an alcoholic.

Meh - my previous car was the bastard stepchild of DSM (Dodge Avenger), which came with a V6 straight off Mitsubishi's assembly line (as well as most of the body being interchangable with the second gen Eclipses).

You'd think a group like that with 50/50 Domestic/Import roots would be more tolerant. They're not.

I've learned that there are fast 4 bangers out there. My old neighbor has a ~300 hp Eclipse GST pushing 25ish lbs of boost. I've seen 14 second I-4 Avengers (impressive for a 3200 lb car - stock time is close to 17 seconds). I've driven fast four cylanders.

There REALLY is no replacement for displacement, but its possible to outsmart displacement with proper application of aftermarket add-ons and power generation. NOS and Boost can make just about any car faster. With a decent starting platform - the Civic is no different.
