Hmmm if you're going to go auto-starter you might as well go after-market because there are no extra buttons for it on the stock one. There are a lot of them, I just don't know any off hand that are reliable.

yea get the after market car starter with keyless entry. If your car starter comes with keyless entry you can just use that. Also, it may be a good time to pick up an alarm built in to that starter/keyless entry. Just a suggestion.
Yeah your car should be equipped with keyless entry, but if you are going to get an alram with remote start, I would suggest just getting the keyless entry that is with the alarm system. I think all 7th gen LX and Ex's are standard with keyless entry. I think you can just buy the remote from ebay if you don't have one.

Sorry if this is a stupid ?, but do the remote starters work the same with manual? Since you have to press the clutch to start the car, but I doubt you would have to with a remote starter? I need to get rid of my $100 alarm. I bought it like 3.5 years ago, and it still works awesome though. WASP!!!!!!

my friend has a manual civic si and he installed a auto-starter for his car. when he starts it, if he doesn't put his key in the ignition and lowers the hand-brake, the engine would die out. you don't have to press the clutch for the auto-starter to work on a manual.

^huh? when i was exploring that option they told me that it was possible to do - but that this particular place didn't install the remote start on manuals because its dangerous. if you left it in gear when you parked - then came back and tried to start it, the car would jump like if you had stalled and maybe mow down something or someone in its path so they said they don't do it at all - but other places do.
if you always leave it in neutral w/brake like i do you should be fine.
sorry for kinda jackin the thread but btw - those of you who leave it in gear when you turn it off - why?? just curious because a lot of older people who have seen me leave it in neutral always tell me to leave it in gear - but then people my age always leave it in neutral. so which way is better? and why??

Because leaving it in gear is what holds your car in place. You can actually leave your car in gear without the e-brake and it will not move. Using the e-brake only wouldn't suffice if you lived in an area where you had to park on steep hills all the time. In driving school I was taught to always leave it in gear when parked. I guess it's just like people who keep their foot on the clutch at stoplights and don't downshift to slow down. It's how your taught, habit, and personal preference. There is a proper way to do things, but I guess it's all on you. Just a tip though, if you ever do park on a steep hill, leave it in gear. Imagine leaving an automatic parked in neutral and the brake as opposed to actually putting it in park. Hope that helps.

02 lx does NOT come with keyless.. it only has power locks
its really easy to hook up yourself.. only like 4 wires and a reciever everything plugs right in ( http://www.handa-accessories.com/civelec01.html $120 or $170 or so from honda)
or you can get an aftermarket one done for $99-$150 for just keyless
autostart and keyless around here run $199-$300
autostart keyless and alarm go for $250-$600 ($600 is the really fancy one that lets you roll down each window seperatly and all that other crap)
manual autostart works the same way cept you have to turn your car off differently... ie nutural, tap brake twice, e brake, tap the brake again then turn the car off.. and other crap like that.. basicly its a code to tell the autostart that the car is in neutral with the brake on so nothing gets screwed up when you hit the autostart
if you get it all done seperatly you will get stuck with 3 clickers

The dealer told me that with their keyless entry systems, it's just a box that plugs right in but if I got an aftermarket unit, than they would need to strip wires and such

^ Yes it was optional on older LX's. My dad was considering that a while back, but he ended up getting an EX so he wouldn't have to get anything installed because it came standard.
Here's what u need to do ... go somewhere else that sells CompuStar starters. I have a 01 Ex Manual and have the 2WSS-R which has a built in safety feature. In order to remote start it you gotta take foot off break, pull hand brake then you can take key out ... once you take key out car still runs until the last door is closed ... the starter will confirm that all is set for it to remote start safely. however if the door is opened you wont be able to remote start it. There are products out there that have built in safety features ... just have to go to the right places. again thats CompuStar. I think their website is http://www.compustar.org/intro.html .. Be prepared to pay around 500
