Hello! Thinking about a 2005 Civic, a few questions...
Hey, just want to introduce myself and let yall know I'm in the market for a 2005 EX sedan with the side airbags and manual transmission. Got a few questions I need your opinion on for some optional equipment:
1. Fog lights plus foglight switch - $354
2. Splash guards - $89
3. Rear spoiler - $499
4. Door edge guard - $59
5. Chrome exhaust finisher - $29
6. Leather steering wheel cover - $59
What do you guys think about those options? Anything I should leave out? I'm getting taffeta white and I'm gonna hook it up with 16" SSR competition in anthracite with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires. What do yall think of that combo? Also, I'm trying to get them down to invoice on an 05, do you think that's doable?
I'm gonna keep the car stock except for the wheels/tires, it's just a daily driver but the Civic NEEDS a tight set of wheels to look complete. Thanks big time for any help.

You can get the rear spolier at 1/2 the price on many online places. The chrome exhaust finish isnt worth it. The splash guards may keep the sides clean however, a lot of dirt gets stuck between the plastic and the body of the car. The SSR's are a good choice, but there are cheaper ones that look about the same. Good luck!
do not get them option
$354 for fog can be used for hid
splash guard: no one esle has them. they won't keep ur car that clean
spoiler, nope, but thats preference
door egde: if it the trim that goes around the door sill, then no. if it the peice that stick out and stops other door yes
steering cover: shop around. pretty worthless.

Cool, thanks for the quick replies. I'm gonna ditch the mud guards. The chrome exhaust and leather steering wheel cover are cheap so I'm gonna keep those. I'm thinking about the fog lights, but that wing is hella expensive! I'm not sure if it's worth $500. I'm gonna search online like you recommended, otherwise I'm gonna ditch it. Thanks much.
BTW, is anyone getting invoice pricing on a 2005 Civc EX sedan with the side airbags? That's what I'm shooting for.

you should be able to get close to invoice. unfortunately one factor working against you is dealerships are trying to get rid of 2004's and would be willing to let them go a bit cheaper than a 2005.

Nice options, but definitely way too pricey to really pay for at the dealership, do some shopping after you buy it and get the parts you want, much better idea for the long run
first of all you want to get all that **** NOW, becuase siomply because it will only cost you about $10, if that, a month instead of having to dish out the flow later.
second i would only get the fogs and spoiler, the rest will eventually come off in a couple months when you start modding

ok, fogs can be bought and installed way cheaper than $345. in fact, if he got hids, i'd be willing to bet that he/she would be way happier.
spoiler, use that money elsewhere.
if you haven't bought ur civic yet; check out the scion tC. some here would have bought one if they were out when they bought their civic. i bought my vic when scions were out but i got a badass deal on mine and financing that doesn't require full coverage{which a monthly payment > car payment wtf!}.

I'm not interested in HID's. For low light situations I would rather have fogs that are covered by warranty. Plus I think fogs look good and they fill in the holes in the front bumber.
Yeah, thanks, that's a good point about the warranty. But the spoiler, fogs, and the other stuff is more than $10 a month added to the payment, more like $20. The spoiler is too expensive, plus that price doesn't even include installation which the dealership will rape me on. I'm just gonna get the fogs, leather steering cover, chrome exhaust, and maybe the door edge guards.

yeah the fogs are definately worth it. There's no subsitution for oem, when it comes to things like fogs. HIDS suck in rain and fog any ways, unless you like your white light getting reflected and seem like there not even on. I dont thing the chrome end tip is worth it though, just cuz it seems so small. Just buy one of those $20 muffler on ebay. They look more masculate for your car.

not to mention aftermarket HIDs are illegal.
however, temjinx2, you are way off on HIDs "sucking" in rain or fog.
we all know HIDs are superior to halogen, and that includes in rain and fog. in fact, we have had HEAVY fog since yesterday, and I'm thankful for my HIDs. i'm driving along and they pierce the fog like no other, without any kind of glare.
HIDs are superior to halogen in every situation when it comes to vision and light projection.

why would you want to get them as an option and have to pay interest on them over the course of your loan term? Do you care that those options will cost you more in the long run than if you were to just get better quality aftermarket stuff and installl it yourself? Thats like buying Honda floormats which are like $40 or whatever and including them in as an option and paying interest on that $40 over 4-5 years....lol......now you have $60 floormats. Save your money.....get the stuff aftermarket. Thats my option...I'm out.....

but, if u know how to deal right. u can get some option thrown in for lower prices and deal them in the financing.
obviously if they tack on regular or higher MSRP.. then you say forget it.
but it isnt rare for people to get options thrown in for 'free' (ie: mats, covers, etc. etc.)
plus in the case of the OEM foggies, they'll be installed too.. with less hassle later..
all has its pro and cons, which a smart shopper should consider and factor in.

Even the manager at the dealership said it would make better financial sense to just order the special edition because it already comes with that stuff. Plus it has the killer MP3/6-disc head-unit not on the regular Civic.I'm happy camper. Now I just have to wait 2 to 3 months for the car to be built and shipped to the dealership, I can't stand waiting that long!
Oh well, it will be worth when the car arrives. Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

thats a good price considering how hard it will be to find a white sedan with side air bags and manual trans! just one thing...make sure you get the factory wheels and tires when they put the motegis on! most dealers keep them because the customer forgets to ask! good luck with everything...pm me if you have any questions about your transaction with the dealership.

unless there yellow hid fog lights, then i doubt that the white hids would be better then yellow halogens. Just because the white light gets reflected by the water droplets in fog and rain. In all other situations then i agreee hids are better because of the higher amount of lumens.
buy your car online I used www.carsdirect.com and saved 2,000.00 off the sticker price. i felt a lot better when i went out and bought the 18" chromies two weeks later.
I would wait, and add mods later, those fog lights aren't really that cool.

3 months wait????? damn!!!! that is a long *** wait by then your excitement of driving it would have vanished. i for one wanted something pronto while the excitement of wanting it is there, i cannot wait because i tend to loose interest as time goes by. then by the time you have your car, couple of months later the 06 is out. then you feel like **** cuz no matter how "new" your car was, everyone will look at it as the previous generation when the 8th gen takes over.
hahaha im sorry "if" that made you feel bad.
