Cobalt funny
So I was checking out the Chevy cobalt online and was directed to this site.
http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/index.jsp?ad=commotion
anyone else notice a striking similarity between an oh so ricey movie and opening animation on this page? Struck me as pretty lame.
Also whats with the supercharged model only putting out 205 hp and a NA RSX puts out 210 hp? Small price difference....but not much. Still, cobalt is pretty cool even with the lame advertising.

How much does the RSX puts down to the ground? The Cobalt should put down 197HP. When AEM dyno their stock Ion RL (same engine) it dyno at over 200hp to the ground. If you want to increase hp it would easy, just put a smaller pulley and an intercooler should be getting 250HP easily.
Over all, the Cobalt is the best compact car GM has built and a serious competitor to imports (according to reviews on different magazines).
any american car manufactuer that trys to blend in the "import scene" will never become sucessful. their known for creating big powerful 8-cylinders and should stick with that. im pretty sure with the work/time put into mustangs/camaros/etc could make those cars much much better than watsing time making 4-cylinders to compete with whats honda/acura/toyota's making.

Now, we compare this to my current car. '88 Subaru Justy. Check around, it's not rare for people to put 300,00+ miles on these cars....mine's got almost 260 on it now. Problems? Oil leak, clutch is slipping, exhaust leak, occasional engine knocking....indestructible, but it feels like it's been pushed to the edge and back...and the last 2 owners took it easy on it (although the body went to crap). Book price? $225 in excellent condition...
Yes, I fully realize that there is no comparison due to the fact that one is a sport model and the other is an econobox, but still, considering the way a used car has been treated, logic would tell you that a sport model would be worth less, based on the fact that hey, it's considered a sport coupe, it's probably been abused.

I so thought of NFSU when I watched it. I don't think it's that bad, but all the hype better be worth it. I hopped into my friend's Cav and wondered how GM sold those things...

I think the 2 real tests will be the same as the SRT-4... are the mechanicals going to hold up? And is the rest of the car worthy of being a quasi-performance car? The SRT seems to be proving that PVO did their homework on it aside from a couple things that seem easy enough to change. I think you really gotta ask that question here too. The ECOTEC engine isn't all that bad infact, its quite good, but the big problem GM has always had is that they stuff it in to a rental car chassis. Thats the big beef with the ION RL... its still a rolling couch. If they got the chassis right, and people start playing with it, then I think its got some pretty good potential as long as the reliability is there. There's already some talk of some people thinking about trying to race the SS in SCCA club racing next year. The SRT-4s did fairly well this year.

Why does everyone keep calling this car a redesigned Cavalier? It's an all new, ground-up design. The only thing this car shares with the Cav (other than maybe an Ecotec engine) is the bowtie badge on the front. Also, the power comparison with the RSX-S neglects one key factor - torque. This car makes 200ft/lbs @ 4400 RPM. The RSX-S? 143ft/lbs @ 7000 RPM! Now, I hate the General as much as the next guy, but if they got the chassis right I think they'll have a decent car here.

I hate how ppl bash cars without even driving it or working on it or seeing any concrete information about it....its ALL OPINIONS
crappy ones at taht
what yall dont see is the charger is able to handle 12psi, but it comes from the factory with about 3-4 lbs, so boost it to 12 and you can easily see 300horses @ the wheels, trust me i should i work at a chevy dealership and have seen first hand what theses cars can do...

Supercharged, turbo, naturally aspirated, who cares. Power is power, bottom line.
