Body Shop Capabilities?

I have a question, What are the capabilities of body shops? Can they pretty much fix anything without having to replace a part?

I ask because I bought a 01 civic rear bumper tonight from a junk yard, and it is in good shape except for the paint, which it will be repainted, but you know on the outside edges of the bumper where you screw the screw into the car. Kinda like the front bumper where the bumper meets the fender and you have the 2 screws in the wheel wheel, the part where the screw goes through, the round hole. Well on the rear bumper, one of those holes was broken in half. I wish I had pictures to show you, but I dont, but I was wondering do you think a body shop could be able to fix that so where I can screw the screw back into it so it will stay in place? Like weld some plastic back on there to complete the circle?

Just wondering if these shops have high capabilities of doing things.

weld plastic?

Yea, they can probably fix it, stuff like that isn't totally out of the scope of a body shop.. I mean they do miracles on some cars.

The body shop i work at uses a 2 part stuff that is used to fix plastic. the 2 chemicals are in a calk gun type thing and when you dispense it it mixes in a long tip. you have to prep the spot your putting on but once it dries it sands just like regular plastic. We have fixed stuff like what you are talking about . pretty simple repair.

I understand you can fix the plastick piece that broke off, but I dont have the small piece that broke off. It is just a half circle now. I am wondering if the body shop can use something and put it in its place to fix the problem and make it look new again.

So basically body shops can pretty much do wonders? I havent really had much experience with body shops, other then when my car was wrecked and they just replaced parts, but this bumper has 2 minor flaws on it, the broken tab and a crack in another hole area. I am hoping both can be repaired and the bumper looking like new again.

I'm sure it can be fixed. Most body shops have the ability to repair something like that, and if they don't, you are at the wrong bodyshop.
