bouncing of rev limiter
bouncing of rev limiter
hey guys this has prolly been asked a million times but there has never been a straight answer possted, and being an old *** member i remember seeing alot of these threads but not sure where to start looking for the right answer so dont flame..
This morning, it was like 23F outside, and while I was driving to school, I hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear trying to pass a IS300 that was also accelerating hard, getting on the freeway. So after i hit the limiter, my car STALLED!, which ment no power steering or anything... Why did my car stall after hitting the rev limiter?

Bouncing off the rev-limiter isnt really all that big of a deal.... The amount of time I've spent bouncing off mine is in the minutes.
Why a car would stall while doing it...... Not sure, did you press in the clutch when you started to hit it?

yea it freaking stalled, i pushed the clutch in and freaking popped it into neutral... Also I noticed this morning, that it took a while to get the car started, like 2 trys.. Ive bounced off of it before but the car has never stalled on me right afterwards...

The only thing I can think of is if you depressed the clutch at the exact moment that the ECU cut fuel, then there would be nothing stoping the engine from stalling. (even with 0 fuel going to the engine, if the transmission is still engaged, it will force the engine to keep turing.)

however, the D17 has forged rods, so you'll be fine 99% of the time.

Edit: I also just realized this thread was an old *** thread revived.
