I think that I am going to do it
I think that I am going to do it
After alot of research, thought, and a test drive of a S2000 I have came to the conclusion......
1.-My car is to slow and must be made faster
2.-I can't sell my car without losing my a$$ because of all of the stuff I have done to it (tranny swap ect.)
3.-I could afford a S2000 and insurance on the S2000, but can't afford a civic and a S2000 and insurance on both.
4.-After alot of work and time my car handles better than most cars and looks great, it is just not fast.
5.-there are two options to making a civic faster boost and K swap.
6.-boost is just not what I am looking for, less reliable, and the uneven power band does not fit the well tunned suspension and my driving demands. I also don't think that the D17 boosted can take alot of road coarse abuse.
7.-a K swap would be perfect, but not just any K swap will do I am going to swap the K20a. Compared to the a2 I will have 16 more hp and LSD, besides there are only a few people that can say they have a civic with this swap.
So with the K20a I/h/e I am thinking that I should make around 205+ NA whp this should put my civic around a mid-high 13 1/4 and give me all of the qualities that I want in a car.
I guess my only concern would be that the added weight in the front may through off my handling, but I think that I can swap my springs for ones with higher spring rates.
So I should have all of this done within the next few months and I will let you know if it is all that I though it would be.

k20a swap, huh? why not do what temo did and do a k24/20 frankenstein? surely that would cost less and give you more torque on the lower end of the power band.
either way it will be sick. i can only dream of swapping my d17 for a k series

K20a engine price about $5500.
You can find Used A2 motor for $3000-3500 with tranny.
Use rest of money toward IPS cam, Hondata Kpro, Race header with custom exhaust and other internal motor parts.

yea the k20a swap is the way to go definitely. buyin them new ive read somewhere runs up to aroudn 5500 tranny and all, but that may be for the a2. and if i understand it right, they more or less drop straight in. shoudl only have to move one of the mouting brackets. im lookin to do the same swap actually, then i wanna boost that, around 15psi.
btw, i am taking donations to help with the swap

A K20A only weighs 70 or so lbs more than a D17. Its not that big of a difference and is something that could be easily tuned out of the car with springs and swaybars. I don't see it as a replacement for an S2K, but working with what you already got is always a
in my book.
PS- if you've never heard of IPS (Intrinsic Performance Solutions), you're gonna want to look them up. They've got the best set of cams for the K motors out there.

k20a has an LSD, and more aggressive gearing. these get you more bang for the HP. and I/RH/E willi get you those hp #'s or more.
you better have 8k or more to do it though. and you can swap to rsx springs like i did, they fit the same.

A vic with K20A , Jasma Fujitsubu Exhaust, SPOON Headers, and an AEM or Injen CAI, new clutch and flywheel..then you might hit like 13's..
mm..thats my deam. hahaha.

Civic Ex is around 2595 lbs
So the civic is lighter however the engine will add some weight to the civic.
